Position Title: Design Engineer

Purpose:
As a Design Engineer, you will be the crucial link between creative concepts and physical realization. You will leverage your expert proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) and your deep understanding of building materials and fabrication processes to translate conceptual artist renderings into detailed technical drawings and 3D models ready for manufacturing. Your collaborative spirit will be essential as you work closely with artists, project managers, fabricators, and clients, ensuring designs are not only aesthetically outstanding but also structurally sound, cost-effective, and aligned with our fabrication capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Drawing Interpretation and Refinement: Interpret and meticulously refine conceptual artist renderings into accurate and manufacturable 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings.
Fabrication Documentation: Develop comprehensive fabrication drawings, clear assembly instructions, and precise material specifications.
Collaborative Problem Solving: Partner with project managers and fabricators to proactively identify and resolve design challenges, optimizing for cost efficiency, structural integrity, and production efficiency.
Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and material property considerations.
Design Iteration and Revision: Conduct design revisions effectively based on feedback from various stakeholders while diligently maintaining project timelines.
Innovative Design Solutions: Identify and propose creative and innovative design solutions to enhance both fabrication efficiency and the overall aesthetic quality of the final product.
Documentation Management: Maintain a well-organized system for all design documentation, including revisions and detailed technical specifications.
Work Requirements, Experience, Education, and Skills:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in technical drafting, design engineering, or CAD work specifically focused on fabrication.
Experience within the custom fabrication industry, museum exhibits, themed environments, or theatrical set design is highly desirable.
A strong portfolio demonstrating a high level of proficiency in AutoCAD (2D & 3D) and tangible experience with real-world fabrication projects.
