    ** Seeking engineer to analyze customer needs to design tooling and metal forming manufacturing processes.**

    We are seeking a Design Engineer that directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering designs for the solutions and development team. Plans and formulates technical programs and organizes those involved to specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans and product testing in accordance with technical capabilities of those personnel assigned. Coordinates activities connected with technical developments, scheduling and resolving design and test problems. Works with business development technical leads, project engineers and others internally and externally on a regular basis.

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    • Plans initial designs and concepts, coordinates through other tool designers and design engineers.
    • Develops and sets standards for company technology in area of responsibility
    • Identifies new technologies required to advance company in area of responsibility
    • Stays abreast of latest engineering trends and techniques in area of responsibility.
    • Controls expenditures within limitations of project budgets and ensures projects are completed in accordance with schedules.
    • Plans and implements designs from start to completion.
    • Works with supporting groups to complete assigned designs including generating SQC/SPC data.
    • Contacts and/or talks with vendors as required and appropriate both to keep abreast of available product and technology and to work with specifics related to projects assigned.
    • Reviews product design for compliance with good engineering principals, company standards, and customer specifications.
    • Designs tooling. Specifies production machinery required for tooling design.
    • Interacts with tryout personnel relative to design concepts and when making necessary changes to meet design objectives.
    • Discusses with toolmakers and tool room supervisor at the time of trying out new tool design to determine the workability of those tools with the purpose of improving knowledge of design and helping tryout and design.
    • Considers cost of manufacture, cost of production, maintainability and safety of workers in all designs.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Schedule : This position is overtime-exempt and will primarily work **** eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs.

    Qualified Applicants Will Have:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related from ABET Accredited program
    • 2 or more years’ experience in design and/or process engineering experience with roll forming equipment/areas.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Good organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously – prioritizes well

    Ability to collaborate and work with coworkers, customers and suppliers – builds rapport

    • AutoCAD, Inventor and/or Catia
    • Experience with Master CAM programming or ability to learn
    • Experience with designing manufacturing equipment or or processes including roll forming tooling or other components.
    • US Person as defined by ITAR/EAR
    • Must have ability to travel occasionally. Could include international or domestic travel.
    • Live in commutable distance of Shelbyville, KY and willing to work onsite each day.
    • Remote/hybrid may be available after 6-12 months.

    Preferred Applicants Will Also Have:

    • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related
    • Experience with:
      • Manufacturing environments working with hydraulics, pneumatics, metal forming or roll forming equipment
      • FEA software
      • Product development and tryout experience
