Develop, optimize, test and evaluate coating formulations.
Maintenance, Cleaning and Calibration of lab spaces and equipment.
Design and perform new and standardized test procedures.
Evaluate and create new coating systems and application techniques.
Organize and file documentation, test samples, chemicals and other supplies and equipment.
Maintain lab inventories of chemicals, and lab supplies.
Required Skills
Associates degree in a technical field required. A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering or material science is a plus.
2+ years previous lab experience (college lab acceptable)
Laboratory experience working with architectural or industrial coatings is a plus.
Experience with ASTM,ISO or other standardized testing protocols is a plus
Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong sense of work ethic and self-motivation.
Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
The ability to determine minor differences between test samples as well as perform accurate tests is critical to this position.
Applicant will be expected to keep very detailed notes about all experiments and procedures performed in the lab.
Applicant must be proficient in math and mathematic applications including but not limited to:
Working in both standard and metric units
Calculating fractions and ratios of mixtures, percentages by weight or volume of formulations, stoichiometric ratios, and equivalent weights.
Volume and area calculations and conversions
Applicant should be comfortable designing and performing experiments.
Ability to conduct analyses of samples, compile data, and interpret the results
Applicant will be expected to develop a strong ability to evaluate wet and cured coatings by sight, touch and with the use of lab equipment, in addition to critically evaluate color is required.
Applicant should have strong written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced team environment.
