    Position Description: Desktop Imaging Engineer

    Candidates must be able to obtain & maintain a US Public Trust Clearance.

    Location: Remote or DC Metro area

    As a Desktop Imaging Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient deployment and maintenance of desktop operating systems and software across an organization. Your expertise will contribute to seamless user experiences, streamlined processes, and reliable IT infrastructure. Here are the key duties associated with this position:

    1\. Image Creation and Customization:

    o Develop and maintain standardized desktop images for various hardware models, different departments, and user profiles.

    o Customize images to include necessary applications, drivers, and configurations.

    o Collaborate with stakeholders to understand specific requirements and tailor images accordingly.

    2\. Deployment and Provisioning:

    o Test, validate, and troubleshoot the standard images.

    o Maintain an image integrity process with integrity checks during deployments.

    o Use tools like Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopilot, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, or other imaging solutions.

    3\. Patch Management and Updates:

    o Manage operating system patches, security updates, drivers, and software upgrades.

    o Schedule and execute monthly image updates to maintain security and performance.

    o Monitor vulnerability reports and address any issues promptly.

    4\. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

    o Investigate and resolve desktop imaging-related issues reported by end-users.

    o Troubleshoot driver conflicts, compatibility problems, and installation errors.

    o Provide timely support during critical incidents.

    5\. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

    o Maintain detailed documentation on image creation processes, best practices, and troubleshooting steps.

    o Share knowledge with colleagues and contribute to the team’s collective expertise.

    o Contribute technical knowledge to any Standard Operating Procedure documentation.

    6\. Quality Assurance and Testing:

    o Conduct thorough testing of desktop images before deployment.

    o Validate compatibility with existing applications and peripherals.

    o Address any issues identified during testing cycles.

    7\. Lifecycle Management:

    o Provide image support for new computer models in the environment.

    o Make recommendations to enhance image management.

    o Implement image retirement strategies when necessary.

    8\. Collaboration and Communication:

    o Work closely with IT teams, system administrators, and helpdesk personnel.

    o Communicate effectively with end-users to gather feedback and address concerns.

    o Participate in cross-functional projects related to desktop infrastructure.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    · Proficiency in desktop imaging tools (e.g., MECM, Intune).

    · Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11).

    · Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, batch scripts) for automation.

    · Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    · Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
