    Full Time: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (1 Hour lunch break), 6 paid holidays annually

    Job Summary

    BL Technical Services is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist in the area to support our small business customers. The selected candidate will work primarily from their home office once orientation is complete. Our Desktop Support Specialists are primarily responsible for responding to matters that involve a single computer or user. These will be matters that are reported by users as well as responding to monitoring alerts. They may respond to routine matters on company-wide systems they otherwise don’t work with, such as password resets. They may routinely be enlisted to carry out tasks from the more experienced roles when the staff assigning the task to them believes they are capable of carrying it out and takes responsibility for ensuring that it gets completed.

    Typical Tasks Include:

    Program Installation

    Troubleshooting routine user challenges with applications including Microsoft Office, browsers, industry specific applications, etc.

    Responding to monitoring alerts that fall within their purview such as drive space issues, backup alerts on client computers, improper versions, required patch, etc.

    On-site matters that are beyond the capabilities of the less experienced Field Service Technicians.

    Desired Skills Include:

    Strong Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and ability to troubleshoot it.

    Strong Familiarity with Microsoft Office and ability to troubleshoot it.

    Familiarity with computer hardware repair including on desktop and laptops.

    Familiarity with desktop and peripheral installation.

    Good cable management practices.

    A working understanding of network concepts.

    Strong interpersonal skills.

    Strong problem-solving skills.

    Familiarity with wifi concepts

    Qualifications

    Previous experience as an IT Technician or an IT Certification is preferred

    Ability to work well as part of a team

    Drivers license and vehicle

    Availability for occasional travel for work

    Reside near Laurel, MD

    This position requires a driver’s license and a vehicle for customer site visits. The selected candidate will be reimbursed for the usage of their vehicle at the rate published by the IRS, which is currently $.70 per mile. The selected candidate will participate in orientation at our offices in Glen Burnie for the initial several weeks. Once that is complete, they will perform their duties from their home office and make site visits in the local area as needed.
