    Position Overview

    The Development Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the fundraising efforts and the overall development strategy of Glenwood Academy. This position involves working closely with the Development team to engage donors, manage fundraising events, and ensure the smooth operation of all development-related activities.

    Essential Functions

    Donor Engagement

    • Assist the Development team in building and maintaining relationships with donors through regular communication and updates, per the CDO’s direction.
    • Assist the Development team in donor correspondence including thank-you cards, birthday cards, calls, emails, and additional outreach outside of the larger-scale communications to keep donors engaged, appreciated, and informed.

    Event Coordination

    • Support the Director of Special Events in the planning and execution of community and fundraising events, such as galas, golf outings, local races, campus events, and more.
    • Collaborate as needed at the direction of the Director of Special Events with vendors, volunteers, and other staff to ensure successful events as needed.

    Grant Support

    • Assist the Grant Manager in researching potential grant opportunities, gathering data, and drafting proposals.
    • Track grant application deadlines and assist in reporting as needed.

    Database Support

    • Assist in maintaining the database records to ensure that all records of current donors, legacy donors, and deceased donors are accurate and up-to-date.

    Marathon Team

    • Assist the Development team in the recruitment of runners to join our Bank of America Chicago Marathon team (currently 12 participants with a goal of increased future participation) via social media, in-person events, local races, and more.
    • At the direction of the CDO, coordinate correspondence with the Glenwood marathon team including monthly newsletters, fundraising support, and race-day communications.
    • In conjunction with the Development team, coordinate a day-of viewing party for team family members and friends.

    Associate Board

    • Assist the Annual Giving Director with the revival of the Glenwood Academy Associate Board with a goal of reaching a younger audience and raising awareness about Glenwood Academy.
    • Coordinate cultivation events, monthly meetings, and small-scale fundraising events with the Associate Board.

    Administrative Tasks

    • Provide administrative support to the Development team including scheduling meetings, organizing files, materials, and office supplies.
    • Prepare materials when needed for meetings, events, and follow-up with donors.
    • Assist the Development team in gathering student stories, data, photos, and videos for the purpose of promoting Glenwood Academy and fundraising efforts.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or similar is preferred.

    Experience:

    • Previous experience in fundraising or nonprofit setting is an advantage and preferred.
    • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or similar donor management software is a plus.

    Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate as a team as well.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000 per year (based on experience and qualifications).

    Other Duties and Responsibilities

    • Participate in training and in-service programs as designated by administration.
    • Attend designated Glenwood Academy events, programs, and meetings which may require off-site travel, or occasional nights and weekends.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
