The Development Associate is responsible for assisting, planning, and participating in a variety of organizational fundraising activities to maintain and expand our donor base and inspire people to get more involved.

The person in this role reports directly to the Development Director and will work with other staff to execute several existing fundraising activities and to implement new fundraising strategies in the future. Specific job responsibilities will include donor research, cultivation, stewardship and donation requests, fundraising drives, materials development, and event management. The Development Associate will also regularly interact with staff to collaborate on messaging, fundraising strategy, and organizational best practices.

TCE Fund strives to live by the organizational values of intentionality, justice, respect, teamwork, and vision. All employees, as well as the organization as a whole, use these values to guide the work that we take on, as well as how we go about doing that work. These values are used in our organizational strategic planning and our individual performance evaluations.

Location: Must be based in Central Texas. This is a hybrid role that can include work from home, with a minimum 60% in-office expectation. Occasional travel will be expected within the state of Texas throughout the year.

    Major Functions and Responsibilities

    • Event Execution – Work with the Development Director and stakeholders to facilitate and execute our in-person Trash Makeover Challenge event in Austin (which includes the main event in September and a kick-off event in June), an additional fundraising event in April 2025, and potentially other events outside Central Texas. Collaborate with potential additional development staff member(s) and volunteers during critical Trash Makeover Challenge planning stages.
    • Major Donor Development – With guidance from the Development Director and other staff, identify, research and cultivate existing and new major individual donors. This will include arranging donor outreach and meetings, creating written materials, donation requests, and performing ongoing donor stewardship steps such as acknowledgement letters and updates.
    • Fundraising Drives – In collaboration with Development Director and other staff, assist in the planning and execution of several potential annual online and offline fundraising drives such as Amplify Austin, summer “sprint” fundraising campaign, and end-of-year fundraising. Engage in donation requests and organize other staff, board members and volunteers to participate as well.
    • Fundraising Diversification – Work with the Development Director on efforts to begin utilizing additional giving methods such as bequests, property and stock.
    • Administrative Support – Responsible for contribution processing, documentation and record-keeping within our constituent relations management (CRM) software; assist with fundraising results summaries and reports for management staff and board members.
