    The Opportunity

    The Development Coordinator will provide project coordination and technical/administrative support to the unit-based development team, which partners with PSU’s colleges, schools and units to advance philanthropic investment. The Development Coordinator creates, refines and implements systematic processes for donor stewardship, administrative functions, information management, and donor engagement.

    The Development Coordinator works closely and collaboratively with PSUF’s development, finance and accounting, and engagement and communications teams while maintaining a strong working relationship with PSU partners. This position interfaces directly with donors and external stakeholders.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Provide administrative support for the unit-based development teams.
    • Support donor/prospect-related administrative functions, including entering contact reports; creating, editing and proofreading proposals, case statements and other giving collateral; and creating reports and development presentations.
    • Serve as point of contact to internal constituents for data/list/information requests.
    • Maintain and project manage digital filing/document storage systems using a broad range of programs including the foundation’s database.
    • In collaboration with donor relations, administer and support systems and processes for awarding and stewarding scholarships, prizes, awards, fellowships, professorships, and other philanthropic funds to uphold donor intent.
    • Coordinate unit academic partner stewardship systems and tasks.
    • Coordinate unit annual giving and development communication efforts in collaboration with Annual Giving Team and unit academic partners.
    • Collaborate with the development team, unit partners and other foundation teams to undertake the responsibilities of the role.
    • Participate in planning, executing, and supporting unit and centralized fundraising and stewardship events and programs.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned.

    Education & Experience Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • At least two years of related work experience, preferably in a complex organization with multiple stakeholders.
    • Working knowledge of databases. Experience with a constituent database, preferred.
    • Experience working in higher education or non-profit environment preferred.

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed environment placing a high premium on collaboration toward shared goals and understanding complex processes.
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with necessary stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization and at every level.
    • Proven ability to strategize, prioritize and multi-task to meet goals and moving deadlines.
    • Ability operate with a customer-oriented, problem-solving approach.
    • Demonstrated computer proficiency, including experience using Microsoft Office, Google Applications, Adobe Sign and other paperless management tools. Experience with expense and financial management systems is a plus.
    • Demonstrate reliable, regular, and predictable work attendance.
    • Self-motivated and require little guidance to tackle projects, tasks and priorities.
    • Ability to create and collaborate within an equitable and inclusive team environment, and to communicate effectively within the context of diverse behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.

    • Department: Development
    • Work Days/Hours: Full Time, 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday
    • Work Type: We currently have a hybrid work model at the PSU Foundation. This position will be required to work at least 16-24 hours/week on Portland State University campus and the remainder of the work week may be worked remotely in Oregon or Washington.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Compensation: Between $21.50 - $26.40/per hour (depending on experience)
