    Position Overview:

    This position reports to the Vice President of Finance and is responsible for performing the accounting functions within the Project, Accounts Payable and General Ledger modules of the Company’s NetSuite ERP System and Procore System to support the company’s development projects and the ‘repositioning capital projects’ of existing projects. This role interfaces with Development management and staff reporting on cost summaries related to each development project.

    Essential Functions Track all expenditures/costs for all development and repositioning projects in the Procore and NetSuite Project module of the Company’s ERP system. Prepare monthly cost summaries and review the reports with the Vice President of Finance and the Vice President of Construction and make necessary adjustments.

    Maintain the Procore and NetSuite Project module to update new projects and closed projects and to integrate contractors into the system to minimize manual entry; liaise with the NetSuite consultants/super-users at Carmichael Development to ensure these updates occur seamlessly as needed.

    Provide ongoing analysis on job cost expenditures and trends versus benchmarks and advise construction management of opportunities for cost savings or of abnormalities.

    Perform cash management functions for the development projects if needed. Prepare bank account draws for design build construction projects supported by bank financing and follow up to ensure timely funding of same.

    Perform some accounts payable functions for the development projects. For those not integrated directly from the vendor, the Development Cost Accountant will assist in entering all invoices into the NetSuite Accounts Payable module for payment.

    Perform all month-end procedures to reconcile accounts and ensure that the financial reporting is accurate at all times.

    Prepare job cost summaries and analysis for each development project and share with the Construction Department management.

    Track contractor payments in order to provide construction managers with monthly job cost summary reports.

    Assist external auditors during the year-end audit by providing the requested financial information.

    Assist Vice President of Finance, the Corporate Controller and/or Chief Executive Officer with projects as requested.

    Skill Requirements:

    Minimum of two years’ accounting experience

    Cost accounting expertise (with emphasis on job costing)

    Fluent in NetSuite Projects or similar construction job cost software

    Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point – Personal computer skills are considered at the expert level)

    Superior accounting and analytical skills

    General knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

    Ability to work independently and on a team-spirited basis

    Ability to multi-task

    Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment

    Attention to detail

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Educational/Certification Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university
