    *** This role is hybrid onsite in Burnsville MN (at least 3 days/week)

    The Development Engineer, Loudspeaker Systems, primarily responsible for Public Address portfolio loudspeakers. The engineer will oversee the development, validation, and maintenance of the loudspeaker products. The development engineer works closely with in-house and third-party engineering organizations and manufacturing sites. The development engineer coordinates compliance certification in accordance with US, EU and worldwide standards. As a member of the Electro-Voice development team the engineer will also be involved with commercial and professional speakers and will contribute a wide range of products from ceiling speakers to full blow line arrays.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate speaker development at remote design manufacturers.
    • Evaluate speaker design proposals from remote design manufacturers.
    • Work with product management to define target specifications.
    • Test and validate loudspeaker samples.
    • Evaluate loudspeaker system and speaker component performance and reliability, failure modes and root cause failure analysis.
    • Define testing and design verification for functional and reliability testing.
    • Verify complete products for conformance to design specifications, operational and safety standards such as IEC-62638, EN54-24, UL1480, UL1480A
    • Work in a team environment with project managers to deliver necessary documentation on time and keep development to schedule.
    • Support sample and pre-production builds remotely and on-site.
    • Support projects during the full life cycle, work with quality and service departments to solve ongoing quality issues should they arise.
    • Support Electro-Voice loudspeaker projects ~ 30% of time.
    • Due to the global nature of our business, this role may require participation in meetings outside of normal business hours at times
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or acoustical engineering or equivalent.

    • (5) years’ experience development and design in loudspeaker systems or other similar product engineering.

    • 3D CAD – SolidWorks is preferred.

    • Technical computation using MATLAB, Python, Mathcad or similar.

    • Experience working with some of the following: wood box construction, plastics molding, steel forming and aluminum casting.

    • Passion for product development of the highest standard in the audio business.

    • Ability to problem solve and innovate as part of an industry leading R&D team.

    • Ability to travel up to 25% internationally

    Preferred Experience

    • Knowledge of the latest industry standards and innovations in loudspeaker technology.
    • Interdisciplinary teamwork including project management, quality, purchasing and logistics.
    • Multi-physics FEA software. Solidworks FEA and/or COMSOL is preferred.
    • Working with third party manufacturing companies in global locations, primarily Mexico, China, and Europe.
    • Working with UL and CE or other certifying bodies.
    • Risk assessment DFMEA, PFMEA and Machine Directive (ISO12100)
    • Document control and product data management (PDM) experience, SAP preferred.
