    Grants & Fundraising Manager (Development Manager)

    Background of Dreaming Out Loud: The mission of Dreaming Out Loud, Inc. (DOL) is to create economic opportunity within the DC metropolitan region’s marginalized communities, by building a healthy equitable food system. Realizing the gaps within the D.C metropolitan area regarding food access, we have taken the initiative to rebuild urban, community-based food systems through social enterprise; increasing access to healthy food, improving community health, supporting entrepreneurs and cooperatives from communities with low incomes, and creating opportunities for historically marginalized residents to earn sustainable, family-supporting wages.

    Job Summary

    The Grants & Fundraising Manager (Development Manager) is a core member of the Development Department. Expanding DOL’s current portfolio of funders and donors, submitting proposals while maintaining relationships, the incumbent will work at generating revenue for the implementation of core programs. This person will collaborate closely with leadership, program staff, and volunteers to ensure alignment with organizational goals. This position reports to the Development Director.

    Responsibilities

    Dreaming Out Loud, an innovative and growing organization, is seeking to hire a Grants & Fundraising (Development Manager). Please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications below:

    Write letters of intent and grant proposals in collaboration with other staff for funding solicitations

    Conduct prospective funder research and develop a robust list of mission aligned funders

    Identify, research, and cultivate prospective donors, ensuring personalized engagement

    Manage a portfolio of donors, providing timely communications, acknowledgments, and stewardship activities to build strong relationships

    Maintain accurate donor records in DOL’s donor management system (Salesforce)

    Assist in the execution of fundraising events, including DOL’s Fall and Spring Festivals and donor cultivation events

    Retrieve and maintain feedback on submitted proposals (where applicable)

    Update the organization’s grants calendar and reports calendar

    Coordinate donor appreciation events and recognition programs

    Generate reports on fundraising performance, donor trends, and projections

    Prepare reports and ensure they are submitted in a timely fashion

    Assist with securing and fulfilling sponsorships

    Compile relevant research data and statistics for the preparation of grants

    Assist with the implementation of donor recognition and stewardship activities

    Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    3-5 years of experience working on preparing and submitting proposals in the nonprofit sector

    Demonstrated ability to multitask, meet deadlines, work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Highly organized, creative and detail oriented

    Passionate about making a difference in the lives of marginalized people

    Compensation: The annual salary range is $70,000-$80,000 based on experience and qualifications. This position is eligible to receive benefits.
