    Position: Development and Marketing Assistant

    Employment Type: Full Time/ Non-Exempt Hourly

    Reports to: Director of Development

    Position Summary

    The Development and Marketing Assistant will provide essential support for fundraising, marketing, and grant tracking initiatives. This role will assist with event coordination, donor stewardship, grant tracking, and marketing activities such as social media management and content creation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about supporting the mission of MHA.

    Key Responsibilities

    Development & Fundraising Support

    • Assist in processing and acknowledging donations, ensuring accurate donor records in the CRM/database.
    • Generate donor reports and provide support for fundraising appeals and campaigns.
    • Coordinate donor recognition and stewardship activities, including thank-you letters and impact reports.
    • Research prospective donors, corporate sponsors, and grant opportunities.

    Grant Tracking Support

    • Maintain a grant calendar, tracking deadlines for applications, reports, and renewals.
    • Assist in compiling data and materials needed for grant proposals and reports.
    • Monitor grant expenditures to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
    • Support communication with foundations, funders, and grantmaking entities.

    Event Support

    • Assist in planning and executing fundraising and community events, including logistics, vendor coordination, registration, and on-site support.
    • Coordinate event materials, including signage, invitations, and promotional items.
    • Maintain event timelines, track sponsorships, and assist in follow-up communications.
    • Support post-event wrap-up, including data entry, donor acknowledgments, and event reporting.

    Marketing & Communications Support

    • Assist in developing marketing materials, including flyers, newsletters, press releases, and social media content.
    • Maintain the organization’s website and social media platforms, ensuring timely updates and engagement.
    • Support email marketing campaigns, including content creation and audience segmentation.
    • Help track and analyze marketing performance metrics to optimize outreach efforts.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
    • 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant administration, marketing, or event coordination preferred.
    • Proficiency in donor management and grant-tracking software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Ready Set Auction) or a willingness to learn.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or social media management tools.

    Travel Requirements

    Incumbents must possess a valid Driver License and reliable transportation with the ability to travel within New York State, as well as nationally, if required.
