    SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for performing extensive die maintenance on all types of dies.

    This position is also responsible for examining dies, tools and fixtures to recommend design modifications by performing the following duties.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     Responds to shop floor calls and assists when necessary with equipment problems, quality issues, safety issues, etc. associated with the presses and dies.

     Reviews and prioritizes die maintenance list.

     Organizes and carries out preventative maintenance on all dies.

     Utilizes knowledge of machine and production requirements to select machine tooling.

     Introduces improvements and cost reductions to improve dies and stamping.

     Fabricates tools and other equipment as assigned by the Stamping Manager.

     Observes machine operations to detect any problems; makes necessary adjustments to correct problems.

     Performs both tungsten inert gas (TIG) and metal inert gas (MIG) welding.

     Arranges and schedules outsource modification for coating and repair.

     Oversees purchases of all necessary equipment or parts for repair.

     Collaborates with other die maintenance associates to allocate jobs for repair and maintenance.

     Performs polishing and grinding work as necessary.

     Notifies the Stamping Manager of any critical die issues.

     Other duties as assigned by manager.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate – Die Maintenance

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Crane Operator License preferred SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT:

     Overhead Crane

     Lathe

     Milling Machine

     Surface Grinder

     Radial Arm

     Mig and Tig Welder

    The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.

    Working in this environment requires wearing a company provided uniform and the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel toed work boots, and either a hard hat or a bump cap.
