Pittsburgh Transportation is hiring a full-time, experienced Diesel Technician to perform routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of company vehicles. This role operates Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Applicants must hold a valid Pennsylvania CDL license, a State Inspection License, and be able to pass a DOT physical.
Position Overview – Diesel Technician:
The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining both the interior and exterior of fleet vehicles to ensure they are safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities of a Diesel Technician:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, battery inspections, and equipment lubrication.
- Inspect and adjust safety devices, protective guards, and belts as needed.
- Assess and repair critical systems, including brakes, steering mechanisms, and other essential components.
- Complete scheduled vehicle inspections and necessary services promptly.
- Execute required vehicle repairs and handle recovery operations when needed.
- Conduct road tests to diagnose potential mechanical issues.
- Perform vehicle updates and ensure they meet all specifications.
- Keep the work area and tools clean, organized, and well-maintained.
- Take on additional tasks as assigned by management.
Position Requirements of a Diesel Technician:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a CDL Mechanic role preferred.
Skills and Qualifications of a Diesel Technician:
- Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency is required.
- Certifications:
