    The commercial cinema technician is a full-time position that directly supports our efforts to provide world-class service to our wide range of clients, including commercial and independent theater owners, private and corporate screening rooms, post-production facilities, universities, museums, and more.

    With a focus on cinema, you’ll work with a passionate and talented group of field technicians and installers to take commercial AV projects from concept to creation, and subsequently operate and maintain those systems once in place.

    Job Responsibilities

    Identify and diagnose audiovisual presentation issues and equipment failures.

    Provide remote and onsite support/troubleshooting assistance and guide non-technical theater and venue staff, communicating step-by-step instructions in understandable terms.

    Complete routine and emergency onsite equipment service and preventative maintenance, including but not limited to equipment installation, consumable and part replacement, deep cleaning of projection system and optics, and device firmware updates and backups.

    Perform routine calibration of video/imaging and audio equipment, including but not limited to image luminance/color calibration, image geometry/focus adjustment, graphic equalization, synchronization, and SPL measurement of audio channels.

    Ensure the highest industry presentation quality standards are met at high profile film premieres, screenings, and other special events.

    Daily travel throughout the New York metro area and occasionally out of town/out of state.

    Mandatory Qualifications

    Read, interpret, diagnose and affect repair of semi complex electronic equipment, e.g. printed circuit boards, power supplies, multiplexing systems, amplifiers, etc.

    Provide technical guidance and training for above to other technicians.

    Minimum Qualifications

    2+ years experience operating/servicing professional audiovisual equipment.

    Comprehension of AV system schematics, signal flow, and modern audio and video formats.

    Experience with AV and electrical test equipment, including but not limited to: light meters, colorimeters/spectroradiometers, oscilloscopes, real-time analyzers (RTA), SPL meters, signal generators, and multimeters.

    Demonstrate modern computing skills, including experience with Windows and macOS, and competencies in word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, and research.

    Experience configuring and troubleshooting basic wired and wireless networks (IPv4).

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Ability to work diligently, calmly, and professionally under tight run-of-show deadlines.

    Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

    Flexibility in scheduling with a willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays (paid) depending on business needs.

    Ability to engage in physical activity, including lifting (up to 50lbs), standing for long periods, walking up/down stairs, and climbing ladders/scaffolding.

    Must be authorized to work in the United States.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Knowledge and proficiency with commercial Digital Cinema equipment, including Christie, Barco, NEC, Sony, Dolby/Doremi, GDC, QSC/USL, etc.

    Experience with DSP systems, audio over IP, and other distributed audio systems such as Q-SYS/Q-LAN, AES67, Dante, etc.

    Understanding of control systems, such as Q-SYS, Crestron, Extron, AMX, etc, and third-party control methods and equipment such as electrical relays/switches, contact closure, GPIO, and TCP/UDP IP control.

    Experience with commercial digital signage systems and LED walls.

    Ability to solder and terminate cables and connectors.

    CTS and related professional certifications.

    We Offer

    Starting salary: $55,000-$90,000/year, commensurate with experience.

    Additional compensation: annual bonus based on performance.
