    We have an excellent opportunity for a ELECTRICAL MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN in our Roanoke Cement Plant located in Troutville VA. This hourly position will be responsible for troubleshooting electrical and mechanical equipment, safety compliance, housekeeping, using mobile equipment and keeping machinery in optimum condition. 

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Demonstrate safe working practices around all mechanical and electrical equipment.
    • Troubleshoot and repair the following at a minimum:
      • AC/DC motors, drives and control circuits
      • PLC interface wiring Digital and analog electronic circuits (programming helpful)
      • MCCs, Switchgear, breakers, fuses, power distribution, transformers and lighting
      • Install rigid conduit and conductors according to NEC standards
      • Environmental equipment and ESP controls
      • Batteries and charging equipment
      • HVAC, Generators, Air compressors, scales and instrumentation
      • High voltage switchyard equipment
    • Read and interpret electrical prints and equipment manuals.
    • Distinguish color for electrical and quality control needs.
    • Work in adverse weather conditions, to climb, and work at heights.
    • Address housekeeping issues through cleaning and organization of materials and supplies.
    • Operate mobile equipment as necessary. (Forklift, skid steer, man lift)
    • Demonstrate math skills.
    • Communicate, both orally and in writing to create and maintain records.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • The qualified applicant MUST HAVE A VALID VIRGINIA DPOR ELECTRICAL JOURNEYMAN CERTIFICATION OR DMME ELECTRICAL CERTIFICATION.
    • Must have the ability to interpret wiring diagrams and blue prints.
    • Must have the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform installations, repairs, and identify items in this category.
    • Ability to use a personal computer to research pertinent issues, order materials, and write simple correspondence.
    • Proven electrical experience in an industrial and/or commercial environment. Three to five years of electrical experience preferred.
    • Proven mechanical experience in and industrial and/or commercial environment. Experience in welding is preferred.
