    Job Title: Direct Care Professional Department: Residential Services Reports To: Program Coordinator

    Shifts Available:

    Weekends - 12 Hour Shifts (schedule TBD)

    12:00pm - 8:30pm

    4:00pm - 12:30am

    Position Summary The Direct Care Professional provides compassionate, high-quality support to clients in BFS-provided homes. This position focuses on delivering direct care, supervising clients during evenings and weekends, and supporting clients’ goals as outlined in their treatment plans. The role includes assisting clients with daily activities, facilitating a safe and supportive living environment, and co-facilitating group sessions led by Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) twice weekly.

    Key Responsibilities

    Client Supervision and Support

    Supervise and assist clients in the home setting, ensuring safety and structure in alignment with treatment goals.

    Support clients with daily routines, including meal preparation, personal care, and household tasks.

    Monitor clients’ adherence to program guidelines and provide guidance to promote positive behavior and coping skills.

    Group Facilitation Assistance:

    Collaborate with QMHPs to facilitate therapeutic and skill-building group sessions two days per week, each lasting two hours.

    Actively engage with clients during group activities to foster participation, therapeutic growth, and skill development.

    Provide feedback to QMHPs on client progress and group dynamics.

    Documentation and Reporting:

    Complete daily logs, shift reports, and any incident reports required during the shift.

    Document client interactions, behavioral observations, and any relevant incidents in accordance with BFS protocols.

    Report any client concerns or issues to the Program Coordinator promptly.

    Environmental Management:

    Ensure the home environment remains clean, organized, and free of hazards.

    Assist clients in maintaining their personal space and communal areas in the home.

    Conduct regular checks to ensure compliance with safety and health standards.

    Crisis Intervention and Safety:

    Respond to any emergencies or crises following BFS’s safety protocols and crisis intervention strategies.

    Maintain a calm, supportive demeanor and utilize de-escalation techniques when necessary.

    Notify the Program Coordinator and other appropriate staff of any significant incidents or safety concerns.

    Qualifications

    Education: High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred.

    Experience: Experience in a mental health or direct care setting is preferred, particularly with individuals facing behavioral health or substance abuse challenges.

    Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, reliable, and ability to manage stressful situations effectively. Basic proficiency in documentation systems.

    Certifications: CPR, First Aid, and crisis intervention training (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

    Working Conditions

    This is a part-time position with evening and weekend hours.

    Work is primarily in the home setting, with occasional travel required for training or client outings.

    Requires the ability to manage physical tasks, such as standing for extended periods and assisting clients with mobility needs as necessary.
