    Job Description

    MBI provides professional mental health services to over 3,000 consumers in its mental health programs. It is our goal to embrace, advocate, and empower the minds and lives of men, women, and children. Our highly-experienced healthcare professionals provide premium services throughout the DC Metropolitan Area.

    MBI is seeking dedicated individuals, who want to help facilitate change and growth, to work with adults and children that have serious mental illness and disabilities as Direct Service Professionals. This position provides an opportunity to work as a home care provider in support of our wonderful consumers.

    Part-Time Hours (Monday through Friday)

    • 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Provide assistance with personal hygiene.

    • Provide a safe environment for the consumer.

    • Provides companionship in the consumer’s home

    • Accompany consumer on community outings, recreational and leisure activities.

    • Help with meal preparation .

    • Conduct light housekeeping

    • Conduct monthly fire drills.

    • Assist with other care-giver duties as needed to support the consumer.

    • Ensure proper amount of food is in the facility at all times to fulfil nutrition requirements.

    • Complete shift checklist and all task outlined in the checklist daily on every shift.

    • Check adaptive equipment: ensure cleanliness and in good working order.

    • Check and ensure that water temperature, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and sprinklers meet requirement.

    • Immediately report any malfunction of equipment to the Residential Manager.

    • Collect all mail from the properties relative to utility bills, court notices etc, and submit to Residential Manager.

    • Ensure that during inclement weather and other emergencies all preventative and safety precaution activities are implemented as outlined in company policies.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
    • Have a high school diploma or general equivalency development (GED) certificate.
    • Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and thereafter obtain CPR certification annually.
    • Complete Phase I and II orientation training approved by DDA.
    • Meet the minimum training and qualifications of a personal care aide, as set forth in Section 938 of Chapter 9 of Title 29 DCMR.
    • Exhibit professional appearance with consumers.
    • Demonstrate that he or she is free from communicable disease as confirmed by annual PPD Skin Test or documentation from a physician.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with the client.
    • Able to read and write the English language.
    • Able to recognize an emergency and be knowledgeable about emergency procedures.
    • Agree to carry out the responsibilities to provide homemaker services consistent with the client’s IHP or ISP.

    Additional Information

    Compensation: $17.50 per hour
