The mission of Doral Health and Wellness is to support children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) and/or mental health conditions, along with their families, particularly those from underserved multilingual communities, by providing access to information, resources, and services that promote well-being and independence.

Salary Range: $18-$20/hr, up to 10 hrs a week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The role of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) is to work with children and their families, providing resources and support, while strengthening daily living skills. Applicants may choose to work in our OPWDD program with individuals who have developmental disabilities, or in our HCBS program with individuals facing mental health challenges. Services are provided in the client's home or community setting.

Activities as a DSP for OPWDD program recipients primarily involve teaching individuals how to:

• Accomplish daily living tasks
• Improve socialization with peers
• Become acclimated to typical community activities (i.e., traveling, interacting with store staff/community helpers, and adhering to appropriate social boundaries in various settings).

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist individuals in achieving their valued outcomes as outlined in their service plan.
• Communicate effectively with families and supervisors.
• Problem-solve and communicate concerns with supervisors.
• Complete and submit documentation detailing activities in a timely manner.
• Complete mandatory training.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Prior experience providing direct services to individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities is preferred OR pursuing a degree in education, social work, nursing, or psychology.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and complete assignments within given parameters.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old and legally eligible to work in the U.S.
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred. In some cases, a Bachelor's Degree may be required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards, including meeting productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
• Must be able to talk, listen, and communicate clearly.
