    Job Title: Direct Support Professional (DSP)

    Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and reliable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. The DSP will play a key role in assisting individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or other special needs in achieving their personal goals, improving their independence, and enhancing their overall quality of life. This role requires someone who is patient, caring, and committed to providing exceptional support to individuals in a residential or community-based setting.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Provide personal care and assistance with daily living tasks (e.g., bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation).

    Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills, including housekeeping, budgeting, and social interaction.

    Assist with mobility and transportation needs, ensuring safe travel to appointments, work, and social events.

    Implement and support individualized care plans, following goals set by healthcare professionals and family members.

    Monitor and record the progress of individuals, reporting on any changes in health, behavior, or mood.

    Offer companionship and promote socialization by encouraging participation in recreational and community activities.

    Ensure a clean, safe, and supportive living environment by following established health and safety protocols.

    Administer medications as prescribed and monitor health conditions, communicating with medical professionals as needed.

    Provide emotional support and guidance to individuals, helping to promote positive behavioral changes and coping strategies.

    Work as part of a team, collaborating with other DSPs, supervisors, and external professionals.

    Qualifications:

    High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Additional education or certifications in a related field (e.g., Human Services, Social Work) is a plus.

    Previous experience in a caregiving or direct support role is preferred, but not required.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

    Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with individuals served.

    Patience, empathy, and a commitment to improving the lives of those with special needs.

    Ability to handle challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.

    Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if applicable).

    Ability to lift and assist with physical mobility (specific lifting requirements may vary).

    Background check required.

    Preferred Skills:

    Experience with behavioral support, crisis intervention, or individuals with developmental disabilities.

    Knowledge of medical needs and medication management.

    CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

    Work Environment: This position requires a mix of indoor and outdoor work. Direct Support Professionals will be working in homes, community settings, and potentially on outings or appointments with individuals. The job may require shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the needs of those served.
