    Guardian Residential Services (GRS) is actively seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Our ideal candidates will be working with and providing person-centered support to individuals who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in a group home setting.

    Direct Support Professional

    LOCATION: Gainesville, Virginia

    *Starting Wage: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

    JOB TITLE: Direct Support Professional (DSP)

    Current Openings: 6:00am - 2:00pm - Monday-Friday, Full Time

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Implement and follow the policies and procedures of the company.

    2. Engage or assist in the person-centered care, training, and rehabilitation of individuals.

    3. Teach or assist individual with eating, bathing, dressing, grooming and other self-care skills.

    4. Observe the rights and personal dignity of others.

    5. Ensure that all progress notes, behavior data sheets, overnight sleep charts, and incident reports

    are completed by the end of the shift.

    1. Observe record and report individuals' behavior, attitude and physical condition.

    2. Documents all program data, including but not limited to: individual plan data, behavior plan

    data, community integration logs, assessments, individual funds requests, mileage logs,

    maintenance requests forms, and supply acquisition forms.

    1. Documents individual’s health (i.e. seizure charts, weight, bowel movements, fluid intake.).

    2. Ensures that all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

    3. Assists individuals when entering and exiting vehicles while on community outings, as well as

    entering and exiting the building safely.

    1. Maintain effective working relationships with individuals and other employees.

    3. Make sure that all grocery are label and properly put away

    4. Ensure that laundry are done on time and neatly put away.

    5. Attending all schedule meetings/training for the wellbeing of the company.\

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Good oral and written communication skills; enjoys working with all people; knowledge and

    demonstrated experience working with developmental disability;

    At least 18 years of age;

    Education equivalent to graduation from high school;

    One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in the care, training,

    rehabilitation and development of the developmental disability individual in a Group Home.

    Must have CPR and First-Aid, TB test or Chest X-Ray.

    Working Conditions:

    DSPs work in a changing environment that adjusts to the needs of the individuals in program services. The environment may be fast-paced with interruptions, distractions and deadlines. DSPs need to be flexible and be able to adjust to changing needs or activities. Depending on the needs of the individuals, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs., walking or standing for extended periods of time or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions.
