    Job Description

    Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in people's lives? Join our team as a Direct Support Professional in Washington, DC! We're seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to provide essential support to adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.

    Available Hours (Part Time)

    • Saturday and Sunday 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
      • Working with two persons while they are sleeping.

    Compensation

    • $17.50 per hour

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Provide personal care assistance and ensure a safe environment for person served.
    • Offer companionship and support community integration through recreational activities and outings.
    • Assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, and other care-giver duties as needed.
    • Conduct regular safety checks, including fire drills, equipment maintenance, and temperature monitoring.
    • Complete required documentation, including shift checklists and reporting any issues to the Residential Manager.
    • Implement emergency procedures and safety precautions, especially during inclement weather or other emergencies as outlined in company policies.
    • Collect all mail from the properties relative to utility bills, court notices etc, and submit to Residential Manager.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
    • Successfully complete Phase I and II orientation training approved by DDA
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Proficiency in reading and writing English
    • Physical ability to assist with personal care and perform light housekeeping duties
    • Demonstrated empathy and patience when working with individuals with developmental disabilities
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
    • Complete other trainings as required by stakeholders and management
    • Knowledge of emergency procedures and ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to clients' individual needs
    • Commitment to maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
    • Emotional stability and resilience
    • Cultural sensitivity and awareness
    • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
    • Agree to carry out the responsibilities to provide homemaker services consistent with the client’s IHP or ISP.
