    We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Direct Support Professional to join our team in providing essential support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders.     The ideal candidate will:

    •Provide 24-hour supervision and support to clients to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment

    • Monitor clients’ daily activities, including adherence to treatment schedules, and report any concerns to the clinical team

    • Conduct routine checks to ensure the safety and security of clients and the residential facility

    • Support clients in completing activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and housekeeping

    • Help clients develop independent living skills that promote recovery, including time management, budgeting, and social skills

    • Respond to crises and emergency situations in a calm, professional manner using established intervention protocols.

    • Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors, including aggression, anxiety, or agitation.

    • Communicate with the clinical team to coordinate appropriate responses during crisis situations.

    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client activities, incidents, and behavioral changes.

    • Complete required reports, such as daily logs, incident reports, and shift summaries, in accordance with program standards.

    • Assist in maintaining client records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements

    • Support clients’ engagement in recreational or social activities that promote physical and mental wellness

    • Help organize and supervise structured program tasks and recreational outings

    • Under the supervision of licensed staff, assist in observing medication administration procedures to ensure clients take prescribed medications correctly

    • Monitor clients for any adverse reactions to medications and report concerns to medical staff

    • Communicate effectively with other team members, including counselors, social workers, nurses, and medical professionals

    • Participate in team meetings, treatment reviews, and staff training sessions

    • Share relevant observations and client insights with the clinical team to aid in treatment planning

    • Foster a supportive and recovery-focused atmosphere by encouraging positive behaviors and interactions among clients

    • Set appropriate boundaries and uphold program rules to maintain structure within the residential setting

    • Address conflicts or behavioral issues promptly, using therapeutic techniques to resolve them

    • Advocate for clients’ needs and provide emotional support to help them navigate their recovery journey

    • Educate clients about the program’s resources and community support services available to them

    The desired applicant must have at minimum a high school diploma and knowledge of the Human Services field or an equivalent discipline, and one or more years working with adults diagnosed with a mental health condition. Specific knowledge in ethics, boundaries, and crisis intervention. Excellent written/verbal communication skills is highly desired. Direct Support Professional must have reliable transportation.
