Director/Pastor of Youth and Family Ministries

Lakeside Community Church – Alto, MI

    About Lakeside

Lakeside Community Church is an established and growing church of 310 members with an average Sunday morning having a little over 200 in attendance. We believe Jesus’ purpose for every church is to make and grow disciples of Jesus by the power of the gospel, and so we have been striving to be a place where anyone in our community can find their next steps with Jesus. No church is perfect at that, but we have been seeing God do some really great things lately with an influx of new members and new commitments to Jesus. Lakeside is a part of the Christian Reformed Church, but our membership comes from a variety of backgrounds—some grew up CRC, some other denominations, and for others we’re the first church they’ve ever been a part of.

    About the Role

Reporting to the Lead Pastor, the Director of Youth and Family Ministries will plan and facilitate our Sunday night youth ministry program for teenagers. You would do this work in collaboration with our volunteer leaders. As it stands currently, our youth group is comprised of about 40 students (20 high school, 20 middle school). High school meets every week during the school year and Middle school meets bi-weekly alongside the high schoolers until the high schoolers break out for small groups.

In addition to facilitating the youth group, the Director works alongside the pastor to lead our fall and spring small groups. Our groups meet every week, most of them right after church, for 8-12 weeks in the fall and again in the spring. We want our groups to be accessible to anyone at any level of biblical knowledge, and so the Lead Pastor and Director collaborate to create a curriculum that integrates with the teaching series. While creating this integrated experience is no small undertaking, the upsides have been significant. At current, a large percentage of the church participates in these groups and they have been quite successful in integrating and growing new members.

Alongside these two ministry areas, there will be other duties associated with the role, but those will be determined based on the particular gifting of whomever is hired.

    • The ability to work with and lead a team
    • Excellent skills in facilitating group discussion
    • Passion for the mission of the church and a strong love of Jesus
