Qualifications :
A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a similar degree in a field related to early childhood education (Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Child Development, etc.)
At least 21 Credits in Early Childhood Education or a related field
At least 3 credits in administration, leadership, or management, or a Level One Director Credential through Gateway for Opportunities.
At least five years of experience teaching in an early childhood classroom
At least one year of administrative experience preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
The ability to implement a child-centered curriculum, maintain administrative procedures and prepare accurate records and reports
The ability to coach, reflect, and mentor teachers to have strong classroom management and social emotional focus in their classrooms
Job Description:
The Director is responsible for ensuring that the School is operating in compliance of DCFS standards at all times. The Director is tasked with day-to-day facility and program operations: provide staff support and collaborate in the development and oversight of curriculum and program planning. The Director is to exercise the use of interpersonal skills so as to maximize the teamwork among teachers at the School, and to create the optimum learning environment for the students. The Director in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum is to support teachers to plan and organize all classroom activities and effectively utilize the curriculum furnished by Sonnets Academy.
Duties Related to the Management of a Sonnets location:
Office and school responsibilities including but not limited to answering phones, filing, printing, communication with teachers, families, vendors, others who enter the community
Cleanliness and organization of location
Supplies (working with Education Coordinator)
Catering
Tour packets and marketing materials in collaboration with Marketing Team
Customer service commitment and outlook
Responding to inquires, conducting tours and starting the enrollment process with families
Increasing enrollment
Onboarding students (working with Education Coordinator)
Spreadsheet usage and support
Brightwheel usage and support
Onboarding and management of staff (working with Education Coordinator)
Payroll
Staff schedules for classrooms and breaks
Teacher support including but not limited to health and incident reports
Classroom coverage
Student file updates and parent facing materials
Enrichment planning and scheduling
Maintenance issues, portal updates and scheduling
Etc.
