We're looking for an energetic, committed and reliable Director of Coaching (DOC) to help us recruit, hire, train, manage and grow our coaching staff here at Soccer Shots of Greater Charlotte. The DOC is passionate about our mission and responsible for building supportive relationships with coaching staff through 1:1 and group training, evaluating and developing coaches. This person is highly organized, caring, patient, positive and committed to helping people reach their potential. The DOC assumes a “team captain" position in which they are thought of as a role model for new and experienced coaches. This is a full time role, designed for someone who has the ability to attract talented individuals, as well as create relationships that promote trust and understanding amongst all employees.

Annual salary beginning at $35,100 per year - ($1,350 per paycheck before taxes. Payroll is paid every other week).
Monthly fuel stipend of $150
After 6 months and a positive review, you’ll be given use of a company-owned car for all Soccer Shots-related purposes. (Pending proof of a clear driving record)

10 days Paid Time Off (PTO) per calendar year - not to be used within the first 90 days of employment..

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coach - If the DOC candidate has not been employed as a Soccer Shots coach previously, he or she will be required to coach a full season at a school location (mini, classic and premier) as well as a full season at a public location (mini, classic and premier) as a part of his/her training.
Achieve Seasonal Staffing Goals - It is the responsibility of the DOC to hire enough coaches to cover all locations each season. The DOC will use various resources to hire these coaches.
CareerPlug or other online job post sites. Soccer Shots will maintain an active CareerPlug account, complete with various job postings. It will be the DOC’s responsibility to maintain and update as needed, these job posts.
Career Fairs. There will be opportunities for the DOC to attend various job fairs, either through local colleges or community events, and the DOC is expected to attend any that are deemed beneficial in attracting qualified individuals.
Other Unique Opportunities. As the DOC you are encouraged to find other, unique opportunities to promote Soccer Shots and increase the number of qualified applicants. These may include posting yard signs or other marketing materials, posting to other social media accounts, visiting local colleges and universities or partnering with other local entities.
Follow the Hiring Process - Soccer Shots has a process that the DOC should follow from the moment an application is received until an offer is accepted. It is up to the DOC to follow this process while suggesting any improvements that could be made. This process will include; initial applicant contact, assessment, video interview, coaching interview, and offering of employment.
Onboard New Hires - The DOC will be responsible for onboarding all new hires and making sure all hiring paperwork is completed. This also includes setting up the new hire in all systems (Google Calendar, Configio, Slack, etc), running necessary background checks, providing initial in-office training, establishing an on-field training schedule and distributing all coaching gear.
Train and Manage New and Current Coaches
Manage and mentor an average of 25 part-time coaches
Create and manage new coaches’ training schedules. Monitor progress and adjust as needed.
Shadow and assess new coaches
Co-lead sessions with coaches-in-training
Work with Area Coordinators to build and maintain coaches’ schedules
Assist Area Coordinators in transitioning a coach to a new location
Ensure that all coach background checks are up to date
Run the training portion of Preseason Staff Meetings
Conduct regular evaluations and provide feedback for new and current coaches
Have continuous performance conversations with coaches
Stay in close communication with all coaches throughout the season via text, phone, email and Slack
Curriculum - The DOC is responsible for having a thorough knowledge of Soccer Shots curriculum and will train and evaluate coaches in its implementation. Training includes providing tips and tricks to coaches on implementation. Evaluation includes identifying revisions to curriculum to ensure the delivery of exceptional programming.
Make sure coaches are meeting all job expectations i.e. maintaining participant attendance, time sheet hours, curriculum
Confirm time sheets
Review weekly attendance reports
Keep track of coaching milestones and create incentives for coaches
Come up with unique ways to retain Soccer Shots coaches
Plan and coordinate team outings
Keep coaches accountable to program and brand standards
Offboard coaches when necessary
Network with other franchises and continue to improve our processes
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS:
Participate in Weekly L10 Meetings and keep the team informed about coaches
Be proficient in all SSGCLT technology platforms - Configio, Google Calendar, Slack, etc.
Act as a fill-in coach when needed
Coach sessions that do not have a regular coach assigned to them
Collaborate with Soccer Shots directors and Area Coordinators regarding season planning and improvement of program quality
Prompt, reliable, and professional communication - responds immediately to customers (parents, directors, staff), and always responds to supervisor and other Soccer Shots support staff within 24 hours
Meet weekly, seasonal, and annual timelines and deadlines.
Develop systems to stay organized, keep good records, and be efficient with your time
Adhere to all company policies and represent Soccer Shots with professionalism and integrity
Be a leader within our business and help build a positive culture
WORK SCHEDULE/LOCATION:
The DOC is a full-time position requiring an average of 40 hours of work per week. Work schedule is flexible as long as the necessary work is getting done. As the seasonal workload shifts throughout the year, adjustments will be made to ensure there is an appropriate workload balance. It is up to the DOC to appropriately schedule their time and to make adjustments as necessary. The DOC, with assistance from Area Coordinators, is expected to be available to communicate with coaches and manage any situations that may arise regarding our public park programs. This position will require routine, daily travel to our session locations situated throughout the Greater Charlotte Area (Gaston, Lincoln, Iredell, Cabarrus and Rowan Counties). This position will involve a mix of weekday, weeknight, and Saturday working hours; this is NOT a traditional M-F 9am-5pm position. It requires flexibility as well as excellent time management skills to ensure an appropriate work-life balance. This position requires extensive driving in and around the Greater Charlotte area. The Coordinator is required to drive to multiple sites during the week and on Saturdays to conduct coaching assessments and provide coaching support as needed. When not out in the field, the DOC can either work from home or in our Huntersville office.
PHYSICAL/WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Work requires the ability to sit, stand, squat, jog, run, stop, bend and get up and down off the ground numerous times throughout an extended work day. You may need to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion and will be exposed to inside and outside sports environments.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS AND REVIEWS:
Performance will be reviewed after the first 60 days of employment. Objectives of the position and company expectations will be reviewed quarterly through a meeting with leadership. Compensation is based on performance, and Soccer Shots of Greater Charlotte reserves the right to terminate employment for failure to meet company expectations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1-3 years prior coaching experience
Leadership experience
Early childhood experience (preschool or elementary school teacher, childcare experience, etc.)
Experience with the sport of soccer
Bachelor’s degree
Computer/application skills (Microsoft office suite, Google suite)
Passion for the Soccer Shots Mission

In addition to the above, a successful candidate must pass a Child Abuse History Clearance and Background Check.
