  • Responsibilities

    DIRECT HIRE | DIRECTOR OF CONSTRUCTION | KANSAS CITY

    Multi-Family Real Estate Development and Construction (renovations, rehabs, expansions, etc.)

    The Director of Construction is responsible for overseeing the construction aspects of multifamily development and major renovation projects.  In addition to the construction management responsibilities, this role will assist leadership in evaluating future investment opportunities.

    Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
    Benefits: 10 paid holidays, healthcare benefits, PTO
    Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days remote; Tuesdays in-office required)

    Main Purpose:

    • Manage 2-3 construction projects annually (in an Owners’ Representative capacity)
    • Assist in the review and feasibility of potential investments by company leadership

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Future Investments: Evaluate incoming deal opportunities to assess anticipated CAPEX requirements and construction feasibility that will assist leadership in making informed investment decisions
    • Project Planning: Create detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and address potential issues.
    • Contract Management: Review and negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors; ensure compliance and manage any disputes.
    • Vendor Oversight: Select and manage construction vendors to meet project goals.
    • Financial Oversight: Monitor budgets, set pricing, and implement cost-saving measures.
    • Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular inspections.
    • Team Leadership: Mentor a team of construction professionals and collaborate with architects and engineers.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Minimum of 5 years in construction management, ideally in multifamily projects.
    • Strong knowledge of construction techniques and industry standards.
    • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Proficiency in construction management software.

     

    Attendance/Travel Requirements:
    Ability to work flexible hours as needed. Occasional travel for company events and training required.
