    Director of EMS Education: Education: Responsible for all aspects of the program, including the administration, planning, continuous review, development, and general effectiveness of the program, as well as all duties as defined for full-time faculty in accordance with the academic standards, rules and regulations of Grayson College. Responsibilities also include meeting and maintaining program accreditation outlined by CAAHEP, including a systematic review of program effectiveness in didactic, lab, and clinical learning environments. Serves as a liaison between the EMS program, the College, and the community. Leads the EMS program toward the mission of Student Success.

    Responsibilities:

    30% Perform duties of an EMS Professor and supervise EMS faculty according to GC policy; submission of course schedules, certified rosters, catalog changes, course fees, textbook revisions, and grades according to GC policy.

    15% Oversee the Clinical Coordinator and the coordination of clinical experiences and the maintenance of public relations with prespective agencies.

    15% Supervise quality program standards to maintain accreditation/approval status through the Committee on Accreditation of Education Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), and the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS); create and submit annual reports and periodic reviews of the EMS Education Program to requesting agencies.

    10% Supervise and maintain program curricula to meet the education standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

    10% Develop policies & procedures, goals, objectives, and budget for the EMS Education Program and participate in the College Strategic Planning process; oversee EMS budget requests and purchases.

    10% Collaborate with the Health Science Admissions Specialist and the Health Science Success Coach in the recruitment, counseling, and advisement of students.

    5% Coordinate EMS Advisory Board meetings twice annually according to THECB and CoAEMSP guidelines; attend national and state meetings to maintain an awareness of new trends in pre-hospital health care.

    5% Perform duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Science.

    Operates strategically in the development of new program initiatives and fosters the growth of existing programs.

    Develops, supports and evaluates program faculty in alignment with the College's resources and timelines.

    Provides effective leadership within the EMS educational community.

    Applies best practices in EMS education to online, hybrid, and face-to-face delivery models.

    Ensures effective communication within the College and with community stakeholders, develops relationships with educational and clinical entities in the college service area and beyond.

    Designs innovative staffing approaches that utilize existing college faculty to meet current and future program needs; provides coordination of didactic, lab, and clinical teaching assignments.

    Ensures successful accreditation reporting; timely communication with CAAHEP and CoAEMSP.

    Facilitates activities at the unit level to align the EMS program with the College strategic plan. This job description is not a complete statement of all duties and responsibilities comprising the position.

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate medical or allied health field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education; Master’s degree preferred.

    Active/unencumbered Paramedic license for State of Texas, or eligible.

    Active/unencumbered Paramedic certification for NREMTs.

    BLS, ACLS, PALS instructor; NAEMT PHTLS instructor required

    Field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care.

    Leadership skills related to supervision of faculty, budgeting, scheduling, accreditation process and program evaluation.

    Effective verbal and written communication skills.

    Knowledge of instruction, testing and evaluation of students; teaching experience in an EMS Education program preferred.

    Knowledge of current National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards, and evidence-informed clinical practice.
