Status: Exempt 40 hours/week
Location: Work From Home (VT preferred); ability to make in-person staff meetings every 4-6 weeks (sometimes more frequent leading up to annual conference)

Reports to / Supervision Received From: Oversight and general direction from the CEO
Compensation Rate: $75-85,000 per year, based on experience

Duties & Responsibilities:
Serve as primary liaison for all VCIA programs with the relevant external parties; develop a yearly (or multi-year) education and event plan that is consistent with the mission of the organization and the strategic plan.
Lead the Education Solutions Team, established during the 2024 strategic planning exercise to develop a vision and mission for education within the VCIA.
Work with internal and external stakeholder committees and project groups to implement high quality education and training programs to promote and enhance education for VCIA members. Specifically:
Develop a year-round set of educational programs within pathways for professionals at all career stages
Review delivery methodologies and develop plans for enhancement
Identify and recruit content providers
Develop an understanding of the marketplace (ICCIE, content from service providers, commercial operations, other domiciles) to develop a compete/complement model that will benefit the VCIA
Supervise the work of the Conference Education Manager and develop and exploit alignment between the conference and other educational programs. Participate in Conference development, Task Force planning calls and other activities as the conference is built and executed.
Re-imagine and develop a proposal for a committee structure that will support education efforts for the VCIA utilizing the strengths of our volunteers.
Monitor NASBA and other CPE/CLE/CE annual renewal and compliance documentation.
Review and recommend the VCIA’s Learning Management System needs and integration with Impexium
Collaborate within the VCIA to ensure the success of educational offerings. Key relationships being:
Senior Director of Marketing
Technology Manager
Director of Memberships, Exhibits & Sponsorships
Conference Education Manager
Establish relationships with other entities key to the success of the VCIA’s educational efforts (Example: Vermont Captive Insurance Emerging Leaders Group)
During the 2025 HR transition phase, work with the CEO and other staff members to:
Review and confirm current Asana assignments
Develop and agree the handover points from education tasks for meetings to meeting planning tasks
Participate in Board Meetings and provide applicable updates for initiatives
Other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Qualifications:
Educational Qualifications
Degree: A bachelor’s degree is usually required, with a preference for a master’s degree in education, instructional design, business administration, or a related field.
Certifications: Professional certifications like Certified Association Executive (CAE) or Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) are often valued.
Experience
Leadership: 8–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in educational program development, preferably within associations, nonprofits, or similar organizations.
Program Development: Proven success in designing, implementing, and managing educational or training programs, including conferences, workshops, and online learning initiatives.
Association Experience: Familiarity with working in a membership-based organization and understanding member needs is highly desirable.
Budget Management: Experience managing budgets, financial planning, and forecasting for educational programs.
Technology: Experience with learning management systems (LMS), virtual learning platforms, and emerging educational technologies.
Skills
Strategic Planning: Ability to align educational initiatives with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
Project Management: Strong organizational skills to oversee multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and budgets.
