Director of Employee and Labor Relations
Location: On-Site – Northampton, MA Employment: Full-Time Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00a - 5:00p
Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
Role Overview
The Director of Employee Relations and Workforce Strategy builds strong relationships across the organization to foster collaboration, trust, and open communication. In this role, you will lead workplace investigations, resolve employee grievances and conflicts, and participate in union negotiations and policy development. You will coach managers on labor relations and conflict resolution while advising senior leadership on strategies to enhance employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture. This position plays a vital role in shaping fair, effective, and inclusive workplace practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Union Negotiations & Policy Development: Contribute to collective bargaining, grievance processes, and the development and implementation of workplace policies aligned with ServiceNet’s mission and goals.
Support and Guide Employees & Leaders: Build trusted relationships across the organization, fostering open communication, collaboration, and mutual respect.
Investigate & Resolve Workplace Issues: Conduct fair, thorough investigations into employee concerns, grievances, and workplace conflicts, ensuring equitable and timely resolutions.
Develop Training & Best Practices: Coach and train supervisors and managers on effective leadership, labor relations, and conflict resolution strategies.
Advise Senior Leadership: Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership to shape employee relations policies and practices.
Drive Organizational Initiatives: Lead efforts that enhance employee engagement, improve retention, and promote a positive workplace culture.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
2+ years of experience in labor and employee relations, including investigations, grievances, and union negotiations.
Leadership or management experience is preferred but not required.
Skills & Attributes:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive issues with professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Solid understanding of labor laws, collective bargaining, and workplace policies.
Proactive problem-solver with excellent decision-making abilities.
Commitment to fostering equity, inclusivity, and employee engagement.
Travel: Ability to travel within the ServiceNet region (Hampshire, Franklin, Hampden, Berkshire, and North Worcester counties) as needed.
