    • Our client is a flooring company has been in business since 2009. They are a family owned and operated company running on decades of experience. There core principle is their dedication to customer service. They believe in keeping team members focused on their customer-centered mentality in all they do. Due to growth they are in need of a Director of Estimating to join the team in Dallas.
    • The Director of Estimating will lead and manage a geographically diverse team of estimators, overseeing both on-site and remote employees to grow and develop a high performing, process-driven estimating department. This role requires a deep understanding of estimating practices within the construction industry, with a particular focus on flooring, countertops, and window blinds. The Director of Estimating will bring a strong background in process development, optimization, and enforcement, along with exceptional leadership and team development skills. With a focus on consistency, efficiency, and accuracy, the Director of Estimating will drive performance enhancement and ensure compliance with company standards across all locations and in multiple market segments including multifamily, hospitality, senior living, commercial and higher education.

    Responsibilities:

    • Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of skilled estimators, providing ongoing support and training to enhance their skills and ensure high performance.
    • Establish clear performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure team goals align with company objectives.
    • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
    • Design and implement standard operating procedures for estimating processes, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across projects.
    • Develop strategies to streamline workflows, reduce estimating cycle times, and improve bid accuracy.
    • Conduct regular reviews of estimating methodologies and adjust based on industry best practices, client preferences and project feedback.
    • Oversee the preparation of detailed and competitive bids for flooring, countertops, and window blinds projects, ensuring all estimates are accurate, thorough, and align with client requirements.
    • Review and approve estimates and bids prepared by the team, providing final sign-off before submission.
    • Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to align project specifications and ensure successful project execution.
    • Work closely with pricing / procurement teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date material cost data is used in estimates.
    • Work closely with project management and field operations to ensure accurate labor is used in estimates.
    • Ensure strict adherence to company standards and industry regulations in all estimating activities.
    • Conduct periodic audits to verify that estimating processes are followed accurately and identify areas for improvement.
    • Develop KPIs and other metrics to monitor estimating team performance, individual productivity, bid success rates and most importantly, profitability.
    • Analyze historical data and project outcomes to identify trends, assess estimator effectiveness, and implement enhancements as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
    • 8+ years of experience in estimating within the construction industry, with a focus on flooring, countertops, and window blinds.
    • Strong background in process development, process optimization, and standard operating procedure (SOP) implementation.
    • Management of employees across multiple states, including remote employees
    • Advanced analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail and a strong emphasis on accuracy.
    • Make decisions with discernment, looking at the big picture with consideration to all constituents
    • Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools, such as RFMS Bluebeam or similar combined with strong understanding of MS Excel and Adobe.
    • Solid knowledge of construction costs, materials, labor rates, and project timelines.

    Compensation:

    • Base salary in the 150k - 175k/year range
