Insero Talent Solutions has partnered with a community-centered nonprofit in Rochester, NY to recruit a Director of Finance.
Position Summary:
The CEO is seeking a Director of Finance to be a key partner and financial leader to help scale the organization along with improving and maintaining strong internal controls, processes and procedures, managing the day-to-day accounting functions, compliance, fund accounting, and reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial results to senior leadership, program directors, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinating with external auditors facilitating annual audit process.
- Maintaining strong control of contract deadlines, fiscal obligations. Meeting with programs monitors from funding agencies. Completing annual filing requirements.
- Creating and maintaining financial models supporting the organization’s strategic plan and decision-making.
- Analyzing financial performance across various business units and providing insights to senior leadership.
- Monitoring KPIs and recommending actions improving financial performance.
- Leading annual budget process for business units and working closely with department leaders developing accurate and achievable budgets.
- Preparing monthly forecasts and variance analyses tracking actual performance against budget and identifying areas for improvement.
- Managing cash flow projections and liquidity needs across multiple business units.
- Implementing strategies to optimize cash flow, minimize working capital requirements, and maximize returns on investments.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Identifying financial risks and implementing controls to mitigate them.

- Stay well-informed of changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Supervising finance team, payroll and HR functions, including hiring and new employee orientation.
- Training, coaching, and developing staff performance.
- Supervise daily activities ensuring timely and accurate work.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/MBA are strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 6-10 years of accounting experience, including as a Controller or higher and preferable with nonprofit auditing in public accounting strongly desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines, strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to create and deliver effective presentations.
