Reports To: Executive Director
Job Function: The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the Minnesota Golf Association and the Minnesota Golf Association Foundation, ensuring accuracy in bookkeeping, financial reporting, and compliance with financial regulations as they relate to 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations. This role also involves providing strategic financial insights, budgeting and forecasting.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Director of Finance or similar role.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Excel
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with team members
High attention to detail and accuracy
General knowledge of golf and the golf industry is preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; advanced degree or CPA certification preferred
General Duties:
Oversee all aspects of the association's bookkeeping, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions
Prepare and present monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements on a regular basis
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the association's assets
Manage the annual budgeting process, including preparing budget forecasts and monitoring budget performance
Assist with the preparation of grant applications and financial reports for funding agencies
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements for 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) organizations
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure timely submission of audit reports
Provide strategic financial guidance and support to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
Assist with the financial aspects of membership dues, tournament fees, sponsorships, and other revenue-generating activities
Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation
