  • Responsibilities

    Full-service global food provider (manufacturing, production, packaging, distribution) seeks a sharp Director of Financial Operations at their facility in Dallas-Fort Worth area. The Director will lead Operational Finance, Cost Accounting, and Customer Pricing team. Partner with Operations to communicate key financial metrics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. This role will communicate build and delivery effective, actionable reporting, and embed strong financial controls in operations.

    Responsibilities:

    Strategic Partnerships

    • Partner with plant management to support efficient and profitable operations and support operational improvement initiatives.

    • Be a change agent: identify a problem, work cross functionally to design a new process, update SOPs, implement, and build reporting to ensure new process works.

    • Play a critical role in the training and development of the Plant Management team’s understanding of financial statements and key performance indicators.

    • Move with speed: identify, communicate and help address operational red flags that require immediate action to improve efficiencies or minimize costs.

    Accounting Operations and Controls

    • Create, monitor and enforce unit and financial controls over manufacturing of product and control of inventory.

    • Ensure accurate cutoffs each month end for both owned and third party facilities to support a clean month end close.

    • Work with Plant Controller to ensure consistency in financial controls and SOPs across all plants

    • Ensure local implementation of internal control procedures.

    Operational Financial Reporting

    • Implement material cost reporting on a daily and weekly basis to give operations information on yields, components of waste, material usage, and inventory adjustments. Highlight red flags to immediately address critical issues.

    • Build labor standards and create labor actual reporting vs forecast. Partner with operations to highlight actual vs forecast usage of labor.

    • Create reporting and lead reviews of SKU and customer mix analysis and ASP analysis.

    • Create weekly flash reporting for material and labor to give management timely feedback on financial operational performance. Reconcile weekly reporting to month-end financials by plant

    • Prepare and present financial reports to plant and executive management. Create summary walks that explain changes in key metrics using graphs and charts that are clear and easy to understand.

    • Extensive material cost variance analysis, reporting and support including but not limited to: Purchase price variance, yield variance, efficiency and rate variances, labor analysis and fixed and variable overhead spending.

    Inventory Costing and Customer Pricing

    • Develop, implement and maintain accurate costing methodology in ERP system.

    • Analyzes changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services

    • Manage cost accounting team. Ensure item master data is modified as the business changes to support accurate reporting by SKU, plant, brand and customer

    • Manage team to calculate pricing for new brands and product launches. Ensure alignment on pricing model with FP&A and Sales team.

    • Create and enforce pricing phase gate, to get Finance input and approval on customer pricing decisions.

    Leadership and Development

    • Provide training, leadership and coaching to promote the development of other individuals within the plant controlling team and within Cost Accounting.

    • Develop and implement written financial policies and procedures.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required or seven (7) years of previous Plant Controller experience with proven results

    • Seven (8+) years financial management experience

    • Experience leading a team

    • Protein Manufacturing experience preferred

    • Experience implementing new policies and procedures

    • Strong technical aptitude and ability to apply technology to controls, and build reports.

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills

    • Ability to grow, to support a dynamic and fast-paced business
