Director of Grants and Development 2024
Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity is seeking a detailed, efficient, energetic, mission and vision focused individual for the position of Director of Grants and Development. The Director of Grants and Development is vital to the organization, directly reporting to the CEO.
The Director of Grants and Development has a range of essential responsibilities, including grant writing, researching new grant opportunities, managing proposals, plan, lead, coordinate, understand all aspects of Resource Development along with a high level of oversight on revenue for Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity (GMHFH).
Identify ways to diversify Greater Muncie Habitat for Humanity’s funding base to increase unrestricted and restricted funds from all constituencies and launch appropriate systematic programs and initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Strong grant writing knowledge with the ability to research new opportunities/increased grant avenues for affiliate. Manage all aspects of grant proposals that includes grants submitted to foundations, national and local organizations and businesses as well as individuals and reporting.
· As a member of the leadership team, work with CEO, Board of Directors and staff to develop and implement a clear comprehensive annual resource development plan that fulfills both short and long-range goals identified in the Strategic Plan
· Oversee, implement, and monitor ‘annual fund’ process. As a part of the ‘annual fund’ implementation, lead and coordinate.
· Provide leadership and direction for all fundraising initiatives including ‘annual fund’ implementation, major gifts program, (financial and gift in kind), planned giving, special events, direct mail, and sponsorships. Continued relationships with current donors, major gift giving, and look to seek new revenue sources.
· Work with CEO to cultivate donors and oversee, develop and implement a high-level major gifts program.
· Research new opportunities/increased funding avenues for affiliate.
· Ensure strong relationships with all donors, though stewardship cultivation, solicitation and stewardship programs.
· Analyze and oversee donor data for accuracy and effective gift strategies.
· Provide financial oversight including cash flow and reporting for all grants awarded to GMHFH.
· Develop fundraising policies, practices and procedures
· Supervise and oversee work of Resource Development Specialist.
· Participate in Community Engagement Committee. Create RD committee as needed.
Position Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred in marketing, public relations, sales or related field.
Experience: Three to five years’ experience in not-for-profit grant writing, donor relations, fund development including fundraising, and donor relations. Prefer financial experience overseeing grant writing and reporting.

· Excellent active listening skills, and ability to clearly articulate the alignment of organization mission with a donor’s philanthropic intent
· Strong desire to improve living conditions of low-income families in Greater Muncie, Indiana community
· Flexibility to adapt to an ongoing changing work environment.
