The Director of Human Resources will develop and lead the firm’s human resources strategy, aligning HR initiatives with the firm’s business goals. This role is responsible for implementing best practices across all areas of HR, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and compliance. The Director will lead and mentor a team of HR professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality HR services in a fast-paced legal environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- HR Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy that supports the law firm’s mission, values, and business objectives.
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of HR professionals. Foster a collaborative and high-performing HR team to deliver exceptional service.
- Talent Acquisition & Retention: Oversee recruiting efforts to attract top legal and non-legal talent. Implement retention strategies to maintain a strong and engaged workforce.
- Performance Management: Design and manage performance review processes to support a culture of continuous feedback and professional growth. Work with leadership to identify and develop high-potential employees.
- Compensation & Benefits: Oversee the firm’s compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and aligned with market trends. Manage annual salary reviews and bonus processes.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor to partners and managers on employee relations issues. Provide guidance on conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and other HR-related matters.
- Policy Development & Compliance: Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Training & Development: Create and implement training programs to support the professional development of attorneys, staff, and HR team members.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I): Lead DE&I initiatives to foster an inclusive and equitable workplace. Work closely with firm leadership to advance the firm’s DE&I goals.
- Change Management: Support organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to the firm’s operations.
- HR Metrics & Reporting: Use data and analytics to track key HR metrics. Provide insights and recommendations to leadership to inform decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in a professional services or law firm environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business goals.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
