    Director of Medical Billing - Las Vegas, NV

    Salary: Up to $130,000 per year

    Overview:

    We are seeking a highly experienced Full-Time Director of Medical Billing to oversee and manage all facets of the billing department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare consulting, adept at navigating the complexities of medical billing regulations, compliance, and legal issues. This role provides strategic oversight to ensure optimal revenue cycle management and adherence to all applicable laws and standards. The position will also act as a liaison between the organization and its medical billing partner.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the billing department, including hiring and developing new employees.
    • Collaborate with COOs to develop continuous processes and priorities for quality improvement, revenue cycle outcomes, consulting services, and onboarding new clients.
    • Manage overall revenue, including satisfying timely filing requirements, maximizing billing revenue and collections, and resolving denied/rejected claims.
    • Submit claims via various clearinghouses, EMR, and PM systems, supervising submissions by billing specialists.
    • Monitor reports to ensure clean claims submissions.
    • Conduct follow-up on unpaid claims and take appropriate action to correct and re-bill for reimbursement.
    • Identify, research, and resolve system issues through direct contact with payors and software vendors.
    • Provide technical expertise to ensure accurate billing, including billing for new services and staying informed of regulatory, compliance, and best practices.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain revenue cycle standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Research and maintain billing compliance and regulations.
    • Perform regular audits of daily billing reports to identify coding and billing errors.
    • Monitor A/R aging and payment reports monthly to identify trends and underpayments; investigate causes and take appropriate steps toward resolution.
    • Provide monthly updates of revenue cycle status, including reports, metrics, and presentations.
    • Work closely with the Practice Management System vendor to identify and resolve systemic issues.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and other activities.
    • Oversee physician credentialing actions.
    • Perform special projects and other duties as requested.
    • Develop and implement an internal billing department, including the establishment of processes, systems, and team structure.
    • Ensure efficiencies across support staff.
    • Work with the Director of Operations and leadership on understanding and maintaining SOPs for Medicare Audits.
    • Provide leadership and strategic oversight for the billing department, fostering a collaborative, results-driven team environment.
    • Act as a mentor and role model for the billing staff, cultivating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence in revenue cycle processes.

    Qualifications:

    • Must reside in the Las Vegas area.
    • Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Strong communication skills with various stakeholders, including healthcare providers, payers, and team members.
    • At least 10 years of experience in medical billing.
    • At least 5 years of experience managing billing staff, with the ability to lead and manage billing teams, set strategic goals, and drive performance improvements.
    • Familiarity with medical billing software, electronic health records (EHR), and other relevant technologies.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
