Job Summary The Director of Nursing is to maintain agency integrity, ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services, and maintain quality, compliance, and professional standards for direct care services by providing clinical oversight and guidance to nursing and direct care staff to fulfill the agency's mission. This position requires advanced knowledge, discretion, and implementation of agency policy. The Director of Nursing has HIPAA unrestricted access to client information, reports to the President and is an exempt, management staff member.
Responsibilities
Supervise the delivery of direct service for the agency.
Travel to Client's homes to perform nursing duties including nursing skills, client assessment and reassessment, and supervision of nursing and direct care employee.
Exercise discretion and independent judgment when hiring, disciplining, and dismissing direct care staff according to organizational policies and procedures.
Supervise nursing staff by exercising prudence and independent judgment regarding assignments, taking disciplinary action, addressing grievances and employee performance.
Direct and participate in compliance audits as required.
Participate in continuing education and staff in-service events.
Writes and maintains computer and written records and reports in a timely manner, which includes the use of an assortment of office equipment (phone, keyboard, copier, etc.).
Work is in a variety of home environments and office settings.
Requirements
Degree in Nursing and two years combined community health nursing and progressive professional responsibilities in community health; or Registered Nurse in good standing having three years combined community health nursing and progressive professional responsibilities in community health nursing.
Current, valid license in good standing as a Registered Nurse with the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
Have the willingness to travel throughout the service area, including the ability to drive and have a valid driver's license and proper auto insurance.
Must have the ability to supervise and direct the work of others and exercise discretion and independent judgment, and have exceptional communication skills and telephone manner, a teamwork attitude, decision-making skills, and ability to function in a stressful environment with multiple simultaneous demands.
