At their Galveston clinic, they are currently seeking a Director of Nursing. This is the perfect opportunity for someone with ER nursing leadership experience to take a step up in their career.
Responsibilities
Day to Day Operations:
- Managing all activities related to clinical operations to include scheduling, staffing, inventory, pharmacy, building maintenance and functionality coordinating with state compliance officer to ensure clinical operations are following TDSHS.
- Monitors and directs all patient care activities; responsible for directing clinical and non-clinical personnel to uphold patient flow standards; addressing all patient concerns.
- Remaining available, accessible and visible to staff; recognizing staff achievements and accomplishments and providing ongoing feedback on performance; communicating and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Establishing scope of service, goals and develops strategic plan for the facility; staying up-to-date on new developments in the field and incorporates such in scope of service; Reviewing departmental policies, procedures, and systems; complying with all applicable regulatory requirements and standards; conducting appropriate department promotional activities.
- Promoting physician input and communication; coordinating with state compliance officers and including medical staff in planning new or revised policies, procedures and services; providing rapid response and follow-up to medical staff issues/concerns; greeting new staff and orienting them to the department services.
Leadership:
- Develop and maintain metrics of accountability.
- Administer or oversee all personnel actions including staffing levels, recruiting, performance reviews and time keeping.
- Prioritize tasks and manage activities to ensure top priorities are being met.
- Ensure all staff are aware of the proper use of equipment, facilities and materials; provide training as needed and coach staff when materials are mis-managed or not used in accordance with design.
- Facilitate staff meetings and help staff work together as a cohesive unit within their department; identify any personality conflicts and work with Leads and Supervisors to help resolve any issues that arise.
- Provide guidance and direction to employees, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance; provide employees with yearly evaluations, and coaching as needed.
- Handle complaints received from inside and outside the organization; settle disputes, grievances and conflicts utilizing negotiation and problem-solving skills; forward any appropriate information to Human Resources as needed.
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse License in Texas
- BSN graduate of accredited school of nursing, Master's preferred
- At least 5 years of experience working in a fast-paced ER environment
- Progressive leadership experience in a clinical setting
- ACLS, PALS, TNCC
- Strong commitment to superior patient care and support
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Must possess the utmost level of integrity and the ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize changing tasks
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel
- Local, commuting distance to Galveston, TX
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Mastery of the English language, including the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly and precisely
- Customer Service knowledge including patient needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services provided, and the overall evaluation of patient satisfaction
- A general understanding of personnel and Human Resources including recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation and personnel information systems
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
- Proven experience in leadership
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in clinical setting
