USPI Doctors United Surgery Center is seeking a motivated Director of Nursing to join our team. Located in PASADENA, TX , we have 8 OR rooms and 4 Treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Colon & Rectal, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Neurological, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Podiatry, General, Urology. We are looking for a candidate to be available Monday-Friday, schedule subject to changed based on surgical schedule and flow of day. Candidate needs to be available for some early mornings and later evenings.
Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some later evenings required.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Evaluates nursing activities to ensure patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
- Coordinates patient care to include staffing assignments with all clinical areas including PAT, Pre-op, OR, Endoscopy, and PACU.
- Supervises activities to ensure appropriate patient care, and monitors efficiency of all clinical areas.
- Coordinates with Director of Nursing regarding pertinent information that needs to be communicated to the clinical staff.
- Coordinates with Materials Manager for equipment, special equipment, and supplies for upcoming surgical cases, and resolves any problems.
- Assists in coordination of orientation of new employees.
- Investigates and resolves complaints. Refers unusual problems to the Director of Nursing.
- Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
- Follows equipment safety guidelines.
- Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills.
- Ensures that Standard Universal Precautions, the National Patient Safety Goals, and principles of aseptic and sterile technique are used appropriately.
- Assists in implements safe practices and provides knowledgeable guidance and evaluation of the environment of care management, including life safety (fire prevention), security, hazardous materials and waste management, emergency preparedness, infection control, the safe use of medical equipment and utilities.
- Ensures meaningful differences are implemented as outlined in the EDGE (Every Day Giving Excellence) Program.
- Participates in review and revision of the policies and procedures at the Surgery Center.
- Participates in hiring, selection, performance reviews, and training of clinical personnel.

Required Skills
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
- Currently RN license required
- CPR required; advanced life support certification required.
- One-year leadership experience required in intra-operative setting required
- Three-year OR Circulating experience required.
- Daily/Weekly duties include 70% clinical and 30% administrative.
- Demonstrates clinical competency, leadership, and teaching capabilities.
- Physically and emotionally capable of performing responsibilities of position.
