Director of Operations - Manufacturing - Base Salary to 160k/year - Niles, OH

- The Director of Operations will establish and lead a strategic vision to align and energize the workforce, provide leadership to key teams, monitor critical metrics, drive continuous improvement and cost management, sponsor ISO and Lean initiatives, and ensure the effective execution of financial objectives, plant operations, and strategic goals while reporting progress to executive leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead a strategic vision to align and energize the workforce with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Production, Operations, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure operational success.
- Monitor and analyze key metrics, including scrap, productivity, labor levels, quality/returns, and cost drivers, to optimize performance.
- Champion corrective and preventive actions while fostering a culture of continuous improvement across all departments.
- Sponsor and oversee ISO Certification and LEAN Implementation activities to enhance process efficiency and compliance.
- Drive cost management through OPEX, LEAN implementation, cost reduction, and process improvement initiatives, conducting weekly Gemba walks.
- Facilitate Lean Manufacturing practices to reduce scrap, improve operational efficiency, and increase productivity.
- Establish both short and long-term financial objectives, setting priorities for the quality and manufacturing functions; assist in CAPX planning and implementation.
- Coordinate with executive leadership to ensure company strategic plans, goals, and achievements are communicated and met.
- Maintain plant equipment, buildings, and grounds, and recommend improvements to plant layout, processes, and equipment to optimize operations.
- Report on manufacturing results and progress against key initiatives to executive leadership on a weekly basis.
- Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and employee engagement across all levels, particularly on the production/shop floors.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, with expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
- Bachelor’s Degree required (Engineering degree highly preferred)
- Strong, collaborative leader with a passion for safety and hands-on involvement on the production floor
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans, set KPIs, and oversee OEE, TPM, and Maintenance operations
- Experience with quality systems, CapEx projects, and P&L management
