FUNCTIONS: In addition to performing as a Dentist, HEAL's Director of Oral Health will focus on the leadership and management of the entire dental program at all Healing Community Center locations. The DOH seeks to further advance and enhance the core missions and values of HEAL's philosophy and achievements. The DOH is in charge of oversight of clinical practices, oversees regulatory compliance, safety, and standards of care, and shall be responsible for the administrative practices relevant to personnel and clinical operations. The Dental Director directly supervises the Dentists and Hygienists and provides clinical direction to the Dental Assistants and dental staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop, maintain, and implement formal clinic policies and procedures; guide dentists and professional staff to deliver consistent standards of care according to policies and ensure clinical practices are above reproach and of the highest quality;
• Provide feedback in the interview process and orient and train new professional staff;
• Evaluate the professional staff to ensure performance goals related to production, clinical quality, and regulatory compliance are met;
• Participate in board and management meetings and annual planning processes to support HEAL's objectives and implementation of the strategic plan;
• Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer, Medical Director, and other administrative management to ensure smooth operation of clinic and programs including staffing and patient visit ratios, scheduling, and cost-benefit of programs; advice on facilities and equipment purchases and repairs;
• Chair the Dental Advisory Committee to enhance working relationships with the local dental community who provide HEAL with external oversight of clinic practices; conduct quality assurance reviews each quarter;
• Represent HEAL at community meetings and events, as requested;
• Assists in strategic planning and implementation of the planned care model and its applications for the dental program.
• Implements and aligns the organizational strategic and tactical business plans for the dental program and site.
• Maximizes and maintains community linkages while acting as an advocate for patients to ensure a comprehensive scope of services.
• Assists with deliverables on grants and total quality management.
• Assists with clinical responsibilities, including customer service, quality of care, and service standards.
• Directs sites’ dental teams (including dental providers and clinically oriented support staff) performance towards clinical quality outcomes.
• Provide day-to-day direct supervision/coaching of all dental providers at the site, the Clinic Supervisor, and (in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director) the Dental Assistant Lead clinical functions, including recruiting, training, and supporting with hiring/firing authority and performance appraisals.
• Oversees completion of all biannual credentialing and privileging for site dental teams
• providers to ensure compliance with malpractice coverage, patient safety, and appropriate access to services within the dental program's scope of care.
• Responsible for appropriate management of complaints directed at the dental provider team, involving the Chief Medical Officer when appropriate.
• Provides oversight of site-level dental infection control processes through a partnership with the site Clinic Supervisor and the (compliance officer?), including periodic audits, data monitoring, and appropriate staff training and orientation.
• Evaluate the dental team for continual improvement of efficiency and effectiveness and provide individuals with professional and personal growth.
• Share responsibility with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Managers, and other staff to ensure an appropriate clinical interface between sites.
• Assists with the management oversight of performance standards within the clinic site, including integration with on-site services (e.g. medical, pharmacy, behavioral health, medical and dental operations, etc.). Partners specifically with the site Chief Medical Officer to support service line integration and seamless patient-centered continuum of care.
• Coordinates operational aspects of the site dental practice in collaboration with the operations team, including maintaining patient access and productivity standards.
• Coordinates with Clinic Supervisor to ensure that minimal clinic coverage is
• maintained daily.
• Maintains a safe work environment and implements, reviews, applies, and actively enforces the clinic's safety policies.
• Supports the safety of the program by actively identifying opportunities to improve safety practices and evaluates staff for safety practices and ergonomic issues.
• Provide hands-on patient care as scheduled each week;
• Perform other related duties as requested.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
· D.D.S. or D.M.D. from an accredited institution
· GA dental license or GA dental License eligible
· Current DEA License
· Current BLS for healthcare or ACLS for healthcare
· Minimal 5 years of clinical supervisory experience and advanced dental training preferred
· Knowledge of the Spanish language is helpful
· Familiar with FQHC is preferred
· Must be able to travel to various sites if needed.
