    Organization Summary:

    St. Thomas Community Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) designated by the Federal Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA). As such, St. Thomas CHC provides healthcare to economically and medically vulnerable populations regardless of the patient’s ability to pay or insurance status.

    We offer high-quality, affordable care including pharmacy services. Our team of dedicated providers includes Internal Medicine Physicians, Family Medicine, Primary Care, Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician’s Assistants (PAs), and Pediatricians. They’re joined by specialists including Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Optometry, Pulmonologists, Nephrologists, Rheumatology, Adult Psychiatry and HIV Care Specialists working to address our patients’ individual health needs to ensure that they receive the highest quality of care.

    St. Thomas seeks a qualified individual to serve as its Pharmacy Director.

    Job Summary:

    As an integral member of the Health Center’s management team, the Director of Pharmacy for St. Thomas Health Center Pharmacies is responsible for direct day-to-day oversight of the Health Center’s pharmacy service line, currently comprised of three health center pharmacies located in New Orleans, LA. The Director will oversee all aspects of the Pharmacy service line including daily pharmacy operations, 340B compliance, clinical and financial performance, and patient satisfaction. The Director will be part of the Community St. Thomas Management Team and assist with the development and implementation of long and short-term strategic goals and objectives for the Pharmacy service line as an integral component of the Health Center. The Director of Pharmacy reports directly to the St. Thomas CEO.

    Responsibilities:

    Lead and manage day-to-day pharmacy/clinical/business operations of all pharmacy locations (currently three locations), ensuring high-quality patient care, efficient service delivery, clinical excellence, and financial success. · Develop and implement strategies to drive revenue growth and optimize operational processes to meet quality, financial, and performance targets.

    Oversee and monitor PBM and third-party agreements with adherence criteria.

    Supervise and coach the pharmacists and the pharmacy technicians to maintain a competent staff to manage the daily workflow of the health pharmacy.

    Oversee pharmacy staffing, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations to ensure optimal staffing levels and employee retention.

    Oversee pharmacy compliance including license compliance to ensure that pharmacy maintains all licensure in good standing necessary to provide services and meet the needs of Health Center’s patients.

    Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, focusing on team development, morale and employee engagement. · Oversees purchasing of the outpatient pharmacies inventories in order to control costs while meeting outpatient pharmacy dispensing needs.

    Oversees the health center’s 340B program with purchasing and management and ensures 340B program compliance. Work St. Thomas’s Leadership as a resource for the program for the covered entity.

    Develops Policy and Procedures and manages the health center pharmacies in line with the rules and regulations of the appropriate regulatory bodies for retail pharmacy services.

    Works with finance personnel to develop and oversee monthly accounting reports for health center pharmacies. · Report on pharmacy performance, trends, and areas for improvement to executive leadership regularly. · Prepare and present health center pharmacies service line reports to the St. Thomas CEO in pharmacy meetings as applicable.

    Works with health center and leadership of the health center to meet pharmacy needs of both the health center and the patients in a patient-centric approach.

    Maintains strict adherence to the Confidentiality policy.

    Works with the St. Thomas’s leadership team and Pharmacy Staff to develop planning and strategy for the health center pharmacies’ services.

    Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute budget plans, cost-saving initiatives, and revenue-enhancing strategies.

    Monitor and analyze key pharmacy metrics (e.g., prescription volume, dispensing accuracy, inventory management, collections, cost control) to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

    Incorporates St. Thomas’s Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.

    Complies with all Policies.

    Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Health Center.

    Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

    Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations and competency assessment.

    Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.

    Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.

    Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.

    Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

    Required Skills:

    Minimum of 5 years of retail/outpatient pharmacy experience as a supervisor or manager. The ideal candidate will also hold a Master’s related degree in Healthcare Administration or Master’s in Business Management with Healthcare focus.

    Requires strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with the Health Center staff in making recommendations, assisting in resolving problems concerning the provisions of Health Center pharmacy services, supervising, training, and motivating staff to excel.

    Desired Other Skills:

    Experience working with a Medicaid population is strongly preferred

    Experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers is strongly preferred

    Demonstrated success in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team including communicating and working with Providers, Social Workers, Community Health Workers and other health care teams.

    Clinical, business and analytical skills

    Direct experience in working Medicaid and Medicare programs and PBM and Third-Party insurance groups

    Knowledge and experience with 340B programs and oversight

    Knowledge of regulatory bodies such as but not limited to the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy and Department of Public Health and DEA

    Requires strong computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft based office tools (Excel, Word, Power Point etc.

    Bi-lingual preferred

    Experience with working on healthcare inequity & social justice with at risk populations is preferred Must be flexible and adaptable to change

    Demonstrate the ability to work independently exemplifying a high level of problem solving/decision making skill sets.

    Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills

    Possess ability to understand and communicate multifaceted verbal information to providers, health center staff, patients, and families

    Qualifications:

    Current, active LA Pharmacist license is required

    Bachelor's degree in pharmacy (RPh) or Pharmacy doctoral degree (PharmD) from an accredited Pharmacy College or University is required.
