    Director of Property Accounting - Tier-1, commercial real estate company

    A top-tier, publicly traded real estate company is seeking a Director of Property Accounting to play a key role in leading their Property Accounting team. Reporting to the Group CFO, the Director of Property Accounting will lead all accounting aspects related to company's Class-A Medical Office Building portfolio. Playing a key role in financial reporting and financial analysis, this is an exciting role for an accomplished Property Accounting Director or Manager of Property Accounting looking to elevate their career with a one of the largest publicly traded companies in Milwaukee, offering world class benefits and a hybrid work schedule.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of property accountants, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
    • Serve as key advisor to management on all accounting matters related to property transactions and portfolio performance.
    • Act as a liaison between the accounting department and property management teams to ensure smooth communication and alignment of goals.
    • Provide strategic insights and financial analysis related to property performance and provide explanations to management as needed.
    • Review ?nancial statement packages, including journal entries, general ledger review, bank reconciliations and balance sheet support schedules.
    • Coordinate month-end close and production of financial statements to guarantee timely reporting.
    • Review annual property budgets and analyze variances.
    • Interpret complex lease language and review CAM reconciliations.
    • Review ?nancials for errors/issues and determine what adjusting entries are needed.
    • Review Accounts Receivables and advise on application adjustments.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA certification preferred, not required
    • 7+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience, with at least 5 years in property accounting (commercial property accounting preferred, not required)
    • Proficient across Excel and real estate accounting software (Yardi preferred)
    • Strong understanding of
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a top-tier accounting team
    • Strong knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and technical accounting principles.
