    Overview of the Role

    The Transportation Director directs and implements the overall operations of a transportation network including safety, compliance, equipment, and staff. The director also develops and directs operational policies and procedures to ensure safety and efficiency in all transportation activities.

    Department

    The Transportation Director works closely with the transportation team and the entire organization to provide transportation services for small groups and grocery shuttles, develop partnerships, and seek new contracts within the community to provide transportation throughout the D.C. metropolitan area.

    Responsibilities

    Responsible for growing the current transportation program through contract and partnership building.

    Manage and provide input to the Seabury leadership team to develop the Seabury Connector transportation budget.

    Responsible for monitoring transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems and achieve efficiencies.

    Work with the Director of Programs to update operational and procedural manuals for program staff for training and overall program management.

    Oversee staff that is responsible for the safe, courteous transport of participants to and from their destination.

    Investigates and reviews all accidents, incidents and occurrence reports, communicating with the Director of Programs in all such matters and developing recommendations for improved procedures.

    The Transportation Director manages a growing staff and moderate complexity that may emerge among staff and contractors.

    Provides input into strategic decisions that affect the functional areas of responsibility of the transportation program.

    Performs outreach, presenting before community and stakeholder groups to build public awareness of the Seabury Connector transportation program, how it works and how to access its services.

    Hire, train, and evaluate employees.

    Develop and implement the safety training program for employees.

    Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

    Respond to public comments, suggestions, and complaints.

    Prepare reports in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

    Must have experience in program management and supervision.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Key Qualifications

    BA in Business Administration; Urban Planning, Transportation Management or related field, plus four years working in Transportation.

    Two years of minimum supervisory experience.

    Two years building external partnerships. strategic relationships, grants, and contracts

    Creativity, flexibility, and visionary thinker

    Excellent communicator and writing skills

    Must have a Driver’s License, CDL license would be a plus.

    Experience Demonstrate capacity to use skills and knowledge to perform the job.

    Physical Demands of the Job While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The associate is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
