Job Title: Discovery Review Attorney, Criminal Defense

Job Description:

Sand Law, PLLC is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Discovery Review Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have experience in criminal defense and a strong understanding of discovery review, document analysis, and case preparation. This role involves reviewing and analyzing discovery materials, identifying key evidence, and collaborating with the defense team to develop case strategies. The Discovery Review Attorney will be responsible for ensuring all relevant information is identified, organized, and accessible to support effective defense strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

Discovery Review & Analysis: Review and analyze discovery materials, including police reports, witness statements, forensic evidence, and other relevant documents to identify key information.

Evidence Organization: Organize and categorize discovery materials to ensure ease of access and clarity for the legal team and client.

Case Strategy Development: Work closely with senior attorneys to develop and refine defense strategies based on findings in the discovery process.

Investigation Coordination: Identify additional investigative needs based on gaps or inconsistencies in discovery materials and coordinate with investigators as necessary.

Legal Research: Conduct legal research on issues pertinent to the case to provide insight and support defense strategies.

Witness Preparation: Assist in preparing witnesses by identifying relevant information and potential lines of questioning based on discovery materials.

Case Summarization: Create case summaries and reports that highlight important findings and evidence for the legal team.

Compliance & Confidentiality: Ensure compliance with ethical standards and confidentiality requirements throughout the discovery process.

Qualifications:

J.D. degree and active bar membership in the practicing jurisdiction.

Experience in criminal defense, particularly with discovery review or litigation.

Strong understanding of criminal law and procedure, especially rules governing discovery in criminal cases.

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Proficiency in legal research tools and discovery review platforms (e.g., Relativity, Concordance) is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

Prior experience in high-stakes criminal defense cases.

Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple cases simultaneously.
