A dishwasher is responsible for verifying and cleaning all necessary utensils, dishes, and cooking tools in a restaurant or food service establishment.
The primary duties of a dishwasher include:
Maintaining cleanliness: Ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of all dishes, glassware, silverware, and cookware by effectively washing and sanitizing them.
Equipment maintenance: Operating and maintaining dishwashing machinery, including dishwashers, sanitizing equipment, and glasswashers. This may involve regular cleaning and scheduled maintenance of the machines.
Kitchen organization: Placing washed items in their appropriate storage areas, organizing dishes, and restocking supplies in an organized and efficient manner.
Assisting kitchen staff: Supporting the kitchen team by helping with food preparation, such as peeling fruits and vegetables or simple chopping, as requested by the chef or cook.
Waste disposal: Properly disposing of garbage, recyclables, and other waste materials in designated areas, ensuring a clean and sanitary environment in the kitchen.
Adhering to safety regulations: Following all health and safety guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries in the workplace. This includes using protective equipment like gloves and aprons when necessary.
Time management: Efficiently managing time to complete tasks in a timely manner, especially during busy periods.
Collaborating with coworkers: Working closely with other kitchen staff members to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of clean dishes to the serving staff.
