Dispatcher
Galveston County Health District is seeking a dedicated Dispatcher to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for performing routine clerical, receptionist, and dispatcher duties.

What You'll Do:
• Serve as the first point of contact for customers, answering inquiries and directing them to appropriate staff
• Handle a high volume of calls, dispatch animal control officers, and maintain accurate call logs
• Collect fees, issue receipts, and assist with daily deposits
• Scan and document impounded animals, ensuring quality records and photos
• Maintain a clean and organized front intake lobby
• Provide administrative support, including data entry and clerical duties
• Assist with daily operations and animal impoundment processes
• Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years in an administrative assistant or similar role
• Dispatch or animal control experience preferred
• Strong phone etiquette and problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of general office procedures and equipment
• Cash handling and data entry skills
• Computer literacy (speed and accuracy) skills
• Must be comfortable handling animals
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks
• Valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation
• Customer service-oriented with strong communication skills
• Must pass criminal background check and drug/alcohol screening
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours as needed
• Compliance with GCHD immunization and ICS training policies
Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
