    Martin County Transit, a division of Senior Resource Association, is looking for a reliable and organized Dispatcher to join our operations team and support safe, on-time transit service throughout the community.

    About the Role:

    The Dispatcher coordinates day-to-day transit activities by communicating with drivers, monitoring service performance, and responding to on-road incidents or service disruptions in real time. This role is essential to ensuring timely, dependable service while supporting driver needs, assisting paratransit customers, and maintaining accurate service records.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Monitor vehicle locations and schedule adherence using dispatch and AVL software.
    • Maintain two-way radio communication with drivers throughout active shifts.
    • Adjust vehicle and driver assignments as needed to ensure continuous service.
    • Respond to paratransit trip requests and provide phone-based dispatch support during service hours, including County holidays.
    • Document incidents, service interruptions, and shift updates accurately and professionally.
    • Relay detours, changes, or delays clearly to drivers and leadership.
    • Serve as a first point of contact for operational issues and customer service inquiries.
    • Ensure smooth transitions between shifts through accurate recordkeeping and clear communication.
    • Assist the Operations Supervisor with special projects or administrative tasks as needed.

    What You Bring:

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in dispatch, customer service, or a similar fast-paced operations environment.
    • Previous work in public transportation or logistics is strongly preferred.

    Knowledge & Skills:

    • Solid understanding of dispatch procedures and transit operations.
    • Familiarity with Martin County roadways and regional geography.
    • Strong multitasking and problem-solving skills, especially under time-sensitive conditions.
    • Professional communication style and clear phone manner.
    • Proficient in dispatch software, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and radio communication tools.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Work is performed in an indoor dispatch center environment.
    • Frequent computer and phone use required throughout the shift.
    • Must be able to remain alert and focused in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
    • Shift availability must include early morning or evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    Education & Certifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Must be able to pass a Level II background check and meet eligibility requirements through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA).
