General Summary: Dispatchers answers and responds to any emergency or non-emergency calls to provide assistance or important information. Dispatchers are part of our team of healthcare professionals attending out-of-hospital medical incidents and inter-facility medical transports. Their main duties include logging each call, providing answers to questions by retrieving information from the necessary departments and supervising the field units’ routes to prioritize and organize their schedules.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- To receive and confirm All assignments for the day
- To calculate time and distance between assignments
- To coordinate assignments and units, then produce a schedule and get it
- approved prior to assigning drivers
- To communicate with ALL units operating in the field and know there
- whereabouts ALWAYS
- To control all communications via the radio system including landline and
- cellular communications
- To keep a log of ALL communication equipment and it’s user
- Institute a system for accountability for units, patients, equipment and
- information
- To keep Supervisors updated as to the day to day operations of the units
- Organize, allocate and catalogue ALL company resources
- Write and submit concrete and accurate reports on incidents
- Adhere to established medical protocols and procedures as well as legal guidelines and health and safety
standards
- Keep abreast with new guidelines and procedures through continuous training
- Keeping work environment clean
- All other assigned tasked

Knowledge, skills, experience required:
- Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information
- Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing
- solutions
- Receive and dispatch orders for products or deliveries
- Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance
- Use radio, phone or computer to send crews, vehicles or other field units
- to appropriate locations
- Monitor the route and status of field units to coordinate and prioritize
- their schedule
- Provide field units with information about orders, traffic, obstacles and
- requirements
- Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls,
- Activities and other information
- 1-2 years of previous experience
